Sometimes I don't relate to things people think are important. I have no clue why people say a port number in the ip makes the difference between success or failure. Sure it might look slightly nicer, but it's something you type in once and never look at again. I personally wouldn't care if I saw a port number in a server ip. Nevertheless, I've tried to fix it, and haven't come across any solution that doesn't require paying the host $12 to get rid of it. I'm not doing that, and maybe the solution is to switch hosts at the end of the month.
In general, people seem to care about a lot about this aesthetic stuff that doesn't really affect gameplay and I really don't relate to that. The top three criticisms have been the port number in the ip, the way the ranks look, and the fact there's no resource pack. When there is a resource pack on a server I never even download it because I find textures I can't recognize annoying.
What I do care about is gameplay. I've spent a lot of time customizing biomes, crafting recipes, making ships the right size with the right amount of firepower, making the cost of ranks fair, balancing the economy, and making an interesting pvp experience with multiple good options for combat. I've started building custom dungeons with good loot as a prize for completing them. I think if people stay long enough they will really enjoy the server for these things.
I'll fix the aesthetic stuff eventually, but please don't judge the whole server based on if the ip has a port in it. That is the stuff I'll deal with last because I clearly have no clue why people like what they like as far as that.
I kind of have the feeling people on these forums prefer heroes of the storm to league of legends because the graphics and menus look better even though league is the much better game. Maybe I'm wrong about that though.

I'm not being rude here, I'm telling you so you can change it so the amount of work you put into the server doesn't go to waste as I've seen it happen bud.

How is that a good purchase? That $10 to save five characters.
It absolutely baffles me people care so much about that.
I could spend that $10 on developers or any other number of things that actually changes something.
I might consider 88 cents. Still, 88 cents for something that doesn't change anything is kind of silly. I could've bought someone on my server a snickers bar instead or something.
Not convinced the majority of the community, especially those who haven't made a server before, think that .tk with a port number behind it is bad.

Helping is saying "You should consider getting a different ip." not "Your server will never be successful if you don't get a different ip". That's just trashing the thread and reducing everything the server has to offer to just the ip. You were saying my server is shitty and the ip is evidence of that. Your response now just proves that connotation.
I actually did purchase an xyz domain now and I'm trying to set it up, so I'll follow the advice because its useful. However, I'm not going to respond nicely to someone who's intention is piss poor from the start. Thank you for the advice, I'll use it, now fuck off.

What? You are the one being a snob saying a server isn't worth shit unless its domain cost money. That sure as fuck was your intention and I don't appreciate it. I do appreciate the fact I need a new domain so I will be doing that. You are the one acting like a rich kid judging things by how much money they cost rather than how good they actually might be.

I think removing things people said is wrong even if they shouldn't have said them (barring privacy issues). We both said some things we shouldn't of and my thread looks worse with this shit on here, but it was said so it should stay. That's why I will never report a post.
Also, the ip for the server is now watercraft.pw. Just type in watercraft.pw and you'll be on. So overall this has been helpful.

I've owned 4 unsuccessful servers in my time and still strive for the best and trust me. I have learned from trial and error and judging by your ip no one will take you seriously also your website decor etc. Is not very attractive or good also watercraft seems very unoriginal. Try to take these into note so your server doesn't fail.
