You're acting like you will die by not wearing a mask when covid has a 99% survival rate...

(P.s. I am fine with wearing a mask, but this whole pandemic is over-exaggerated)

I never really understood why people genuinely believe this bullshit that the media tries, or well, some media tries to scoff down your throat like you're a child who needs to eat his vegetables. It's genuinely disgusting. Not to mention, even if this was true, you're incredibly selfish and you need to stop thinking about yourself. This whole "I'm safe, I won't die - I don't need a mask" mentality is just absurd.

Statistical Analysis: If the survival rate was 99%, on average, statistically, within the US, with a population of ~350M - 3,500,000 people would die. Globally, the population is roughly 7.8 billion. 78,000,000 statistically would end up dying. If this is alright with anyone, based on this statistical model which mind you, is extremely conservative, you are either mentally deprived of what these numbers actually mean, or you are so incredibly shortsighted that you genuinely think that this is somehow justified because it's "nature" or some other bullshit.

Alright, so lets take another take on this. As of 9/28/20 @ 12:44AM EST, there's:
  • A total case amount of 7.14M in the US
  • 205K deaths in the US
205,000/7,140,000 = ~0.02871148459
0.02871148459*100 = ~2.87114845938%

Rounding, (and rounding down) - on average, the death rate currently in the US is ~2.87%

Globally, there's ~33M total cases. 996K deaths. So, we'll look at the death rate in a simple calculation as above.

996,000/33,000,000 = ~0.03
0.03*100 = ~3%

Based on this model, which is a oversimplification mind you, multiple variables are not being put into account and is only based off of what's publicly available, and known confirmed cases of covid-19 related deaths, we'll take the population of 350M of the US and apply the 2.87% figure. 10,045,000 people at this rate would end up dying. To put these numbers into perspective, during the most bloodiest times in our recent history, we'll use WW2 as a gauge. During the time the US was in WW2, 291,557 estimated people died. Even if this number is conservative, and we can easily quadruple the number of deaths for the sake of this demonstration, it still pales in comparison to the amount of deaths you're trying to say. Globally, going back to our 78,000,000 figure - this is roughly the same amount of people who died in WW2 - 70-85M people. 50-57M directly from combat.

The point? It doesn't matter if the survival rate is 99%...you're forgetting that we're talking about percentages, and on the surface, it can be misleading. The post was made to put this into perspective for some people.

Masks, at least n95 masks and a few other masks, have been proven to be helpful in the spread of COVID-19. Some people cannot wear masks, for an example, terminally ill patients who have lung cancer, COPD, or another lung disease like asthma. The least you could do is have some respect for these people and elderly people. It doesn't matter if it makes you uncomfortable, get the hell over it and stop bitching.

Just for the record, I'm not a liberal - I'm not politically gauged in anyway; I don't give a shit about politics. There is something that is called herd immunity, and if the people who are low-risk would wear a fucking mask, there probably wouldn't be as many deaths associated with COVID-19.

Herd immunity is hard to achieve when everyone is wearing a damn mask.

Also, you're assuming that the 99% number is static when in reality it is seemingly getting closer to 100% survival rate as more testing comes out.

This pandemic is only somewhat worse than a seasonal flu and we don't go full panic mode for flu season. Sure, the flu has a vaccine, but this is why herd immunity is a good idea.

Let the immunocompromised and risked age groups stay safe in shelter and have the general population grow a herd immunity over time. The pandemic is dragging on far too long.

I’ll never wear a mask sorry. I won’t fuel pure delusion.
I really hope you’re joking[DOUBLEPOST=1601392476][/DOUBLEPOST]
I really hope you’re joking
Apparently a vaccine should be available in early 2021 at the latest, so just keep doing what you’ve been doing, we should hopefully be nearing a cure. Also herd immunity is useless as you can regain the sickness, I guess that means the antibodies created in the immune response aren’t strong enough or it changes ?? Idk I’m not entirely up to date.

I’ve only ever worn a mask at work and I have 0 plans of wearing one on my own time.

That's different though...just because people say to wear a mask isn't saying you need to wear it 24/7

The whole idea is to wear it in public, nobody said anything about wearing one in private.
Why should I be forced to wear one for a pandemic that is only slightly worse than a seasonal flu outbreak?

If a business says I have to wear a mask for entry, I will. I have a big problem with government mandates that force wearing of masks and erode our civil liberties.

Your numbers are also skewed, as many people don't experience systems and are never tested, so the total cases really should be up, compared to the death rate where there are likely minimal ranges of error in the positives. I'm not against wearing a mask, but it also protects you in no way. It protects others, as it reduces the range of your breath.
