It has a mortality rate about the same as seasonal flu it is just more contagious*Wow. Of course. Shame on you for politicizing a health crisis in recent medical history, and making this into a "tHe GoVeRmEnT cAnT TelL mE wHaT To dO" - really shows how spoiled Americans are. For the record, i'm also American. This has nothing to do with civil liberties and everything to do with the protection of other people.
The "seasonal flu" doesn't kill hundreds of thousands of people.
I have said it several times in the post that the numbers are not accurate and it is just an estimate based off of what is available. Nobody ever said that it was accurate, it was a demonstration to highlight the potential dangers of not wearing a mask and what those numbers mean.
You were dissecting flu from corona; I was pointing out the similarities. shrugCan you just think about what you said? I mean do you seriously not see the danger in this?
The problem is people are picking and choosing when to wear a mask in public. When people go to a restaurant and take off their masks the virus isn't going to just not infect them because their eating. Same with flying right now, taking your mask off to eat or drink on a plane with recirculated air isn't somehow going to magically make the virus go away. Also as you said, the only masks that have truly been proven to make a difference are n95 masks which I rarely see anyone actually wear (granted there is a shortage of these masks.)That's different though...just because people say to wear a mask isn't saying you need to wear it 24/7
The whole idea is to wear it in public, nobody said anything about wearing one in private.
Why should I be forced to wear one for a pandemic that is only slightly worse than a seasonal flu outbreak?
If a business says I have to wear a mask for entry, I will. I have a big problem with government mandates that force wearing of masks and erode our civil liberties.
I agree with some of your points but it's already been seen that building an immunity is hard for this virus. People have already been infected by it more than once and now our best bet is to wait for a virus. Honestly, the lockdowns came into place because either the government panicked and didn't know what to do or people just didn't take it seriously enough and so the government had to come in with stricter measures. The problem is people are picking and choosing when to wear a mask in public. I've never been a supporter of the lockdowns though, they're a complete waste of time and money in the grand scheme of things. We could stay in our homes for as long as we want and reopen and all it would take is one person to start up another outbreak and we're back to square one. The virus isn't going anywhere and our best defense now is to build an immunity.
Yea as long as you're in public wearing one then that's all that mattersI’ve only ever worn a mask at work and I have 0 plans of wearing one on my own time.
Where I live wherever I am outside I have to wear one otherwise I cop a $5000 fine lmao. It’s not a big deal either way, just wear one so this shit can be over sooner.still depends on the place, if you're outdoors and not too close to others you'd be fine without one
Off topic but yea raymond reddington is a badass.. tbh dembe is coolerIs this seriously how some people view this? “Let the immunocompromised stay inside while hundreds of thousands of other people die, pandemic has dragged on far too long”
Sorry, but you’re fucking retarded. It’s unbelievable to genuinely sit here and have someone actually believe that what they’re saying is somehow justified. I’m not even trying to be self righteous and politically just, the problem isn’t about being right or being politically appealing, but the point is - wearing a mask is a small price to pay for those around you who may not be able to fend off the virus, including yourself. I don’t fucking care if the survival rate is closer to 100%, I went off of what you said and what data is available now.
Nobody ever said that we had to go into full panic mode and immediately shut down the economy like we did. The truth is, people will die, people are going to get sick and succumb to the effects of the virus - that is the reality...that’s not an excuse to not wear a mask
Also, another point that you need to understand and those who do have weakened immune systems or those that do have those preexisting health conditions deserve a right to be able to go out in public. During the last 3 months of my dads life, hospital stay after hospital stay, I was not allowed to see him because of this bullshit. He wasn’t really allowed to go much of anywhere because it was either closed, or had too much risk associated with it...[DOUBLEPOST=1601333849][/DOUBLEPOST]More to the point of herd immunity, if you have a group of 10 people and 8 of them wear masks, it’s effectively emulating the effects of herd immunity.
