Survival servers tend to be pretty basic minecraft, with little plugins. Factions servers are a step above that in the sense that they tend to have a lot more plugins/features. If you're going solo, i'd recommend just a normal survival but if you want to team up with random people or play with friends, factions might be the way to go.

What would be the main goal in survival servers? I know in factions it's about getting the highest money on f top and being the strongest faction.

Honestly, I prefer survival(100% not cause I own a 1.14 snapshot server). But the Factions community is somewhat toxic ngl same with survival but not as much but HFC is like Toxic Heaven. What to get called a nigger if you killed someone? HFC is the way to go

The main goal of survival servers is the main goal of just normal minecraft. Think of survival servers like vanilla minecraft but multiplayer, often times they have a *few* plugins to just help the server run or to protect from cheaters/rule violators.
or like us use datapacksand make plots, rtp, homes, beacons that attract phantoms and kill em(wreck it ralph or whatver) invsee etc
