I'm looking to buy a computer soon but I have no scope on what's good or not when it comes to this.

Looking to buy one under $400 (max $600). I use computers primarily for things like school work, Minecraft, photo/video editing software, and surfing the web. It should have a fair amount of storage and RAM. Must have 2+ USB ports, earphone jack, and optical drive.

Thanks!

PebbleHost
High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Being someone who used a touchscreen for digital art before, no doubt go with the second one, but it you could somehow get the top one with a touchscreen, that would be the best. Heck if you know a thing or two about computers you should just replace the i5 with an i7. Does it absolutely need to be a laptop or could it be a desktop? Does it need to be prebuilt or could you build it yourself?

I need to bring it to classes and such so a laptop would be ideal. This is probably a dumb question but is it possible to change the processor on a laptop or no?
I'll do some more research and try and find one with i7, the problem is that it's already quite pricey (that's the USED price) and an i7 version would be like $200 more.
I'll also look for the top one with a touch pad :p

Thanks for your input!

Not a dumb question at all, I know with laptops you can, but I have never done it with a 2 in 1, not saying it can't be done but I personally have not done it. If you can afford $650 I would recommend this one, as it should be able to do everything you need pretty nicely.

Seems nice however wouldn't it be annoying for drawing since it's not a 2-in-1. Like reaching over the keyboard to draw?
Aside from that the price is great especially with those specs, will definitely consider it!

Here's the original one but with i7 and 12GB

My only problem here is it's really expensive. I'll talk with my parents about it, if they decide to pay for half of it (I work for the companies they own as a designer) then I think I'll go with the more expensive one.

I recommend against getting touchscreen capability unless it specifically says it's fit for digital drawing. The sensitivity might be wrong, otherwise. Get a drawing tablet if you want to draw digitally

I did read something similar to this, a friend of mine actually uses the same computer for the things I'm looking to use it for so I don't think it will be a problem. If it is, I'll just use my old tablet :p

Thanks for the input though!

Alright, so it's really down to these two that I can find:

Budget friendly:
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...+Bluetooth,+HDMI,+Fingerprint+Reader,+Win+10+

i7 core:

Now the only real reason I'm still on this is because I read that the graphics on these computers (Intel HD 620) is absolute crap. Now I don't plan on doing much pc gaming outside of MC but I do play the occasional CS:GO/GTA. Should I be looking at something else with similar specs but better graphics?
Also, the budget one seems like the same computer as the other one (with i5 instead of i7) but the reviews for it are so much worse. Again, not entirely sure why.

If anyone can simply suggest a computer with these specs, even a used one they may have found, I would be greatly appreciative.
Price - Under $700
RAM - 8GB+
Processor - Core i7
SSD/HDD - 1TB
2-in-1, touchscreen for drawing
No screen flicker
Sturdy & durable, weight doesn't matter to me
Used primarily for photo/video editing & animation plus the occasional gaming.

Side note: I know that at this point I may just seem paranoid but the fact is, I kind of am. I don't want to spend such a large amount of money on something I'm going to regret.

Hoping to buy one tonight or tomorrow night assuming all goes well.
