Spigot uses less ram and has a built-in anti-xray in the configuration files.

Also, use FileZilla to manually install Spigot plugins.

Spigot plugins (sometimes) don't work with Bukkit. Spigot has many internal improvements which helps it runbetter, more configuration, APIs not found inside the BukkitAPI etc.
