If its a trend with 10 big servers to have skyblock the biggest gamemode I would assume thats a good gamemode? Now if one out of 3 was doing good then maybe not.
Thats a good point. What do you think makes skyblock so popular? If we know what causes a mode to be trending we should be able to make a new mode that changes the game.

Gamemodes trend based on the users playing it, A lot of big youtubers starting playing skyblock hence the growth, Same with HCF. If the bigger youtubers started playing loads of Prison like they used to it would grow too. Hence why CosmicPrison is a big gamemode and smaller hardcore prisons have grown. I don't know if SkyBlock is the biggest trend right now but it was pretty slow and dead for a while, Its had a recent growth.

So its almost like the owner cant do a whole lot to get more players unless they pay a youtuber, or gets the playerbase that gets them noticed. In other words, if you want a good server you should team up with a youtuber.

Well youtubers influence people a lot. Regardless of if its there server or not if some 12yr sees that his favorite youtuber plays lots of skyblock he might want to play it too.

I think they have a lot of potential to be highly profitable. I have yet to see a kitpvp network offer a lot of purchase methods and be extremely fun at the same time. The thing about adding pay to win options is that you should make it so players have a chance to take what ever the other player purchases. It's not only eula compliant but it also adds to exhilarating game play for the player that purchases it. I think making it available to 1.7 clients + would offer definitely be your best option.

I was brain storming with a few buddies of mine and we came up with a concept of when you kill a player armor slowly gets added to their body. For example You start with a wooden sword, and every time you get a kill a leather armor piece gets added to you. Once the player reaches a full set their sword gets upgraded and then their armor.

I think that would be a really fun gamemode as well as adding a really intuitive, and thought provoking pvp.

Sorry for creating a large post, I kind of got carried away with my thoughts :)
I love your idea. I think it has high potential. one think I'm worried about is getting out there. Starting a pure pvp based server can be challenging since you need a nice number of people to be on the server at all times.

Don't apologize for making a big post lol. I'm looking for detailed answers. I started dicored server where all we do is brainstorm potential online investments in all fields not just Minecraft. we range from account hackers all the way down to your everyday gamers. if you or anyone else is interested in joining the link is in my signature. keep in mind that we still are growing. We already got a few new members after a few days. I will later post a more detail thread for this as well.

Hook me up with a invite link. And the problem is fairly simple that you're describing. Advertise!
here is the link: https://discord.gg/ATPR4w

advertising isn't that simple of an answer since if you want a good advertisement you will need to pay good money. More money invested = higher risk, but also higher potential profit.
