I only partially agree with this thread, and while Mojang does have some points, it was still a dick move.

Mojang is mad because they are losing $$$, instead of receiving more $$$, since barely anyone buy "Official Minecraft" accounts anymore, in other words, they just buy unimigrated then boom, migrate it
My bottom line is, if Markus Persson(Notch) still owned Minecraft then this shit wouldn't be happening at all. He wanted people to enjoy the fucking game and he loved the fans so much that he knew enforcing the EULA as hard as Microsoft is would cause a split in a lot of communities.

No shit.. If only I was the founder of Minecraft then I wouldn't even think bout selling it even it just dies out
I mean if you were Notch 2.5 billion sounds a whole lot better than running a game that has stopped growing A TON.

Notch has made over billions because of minecraft, and if he didn't do the EULA bullshit, he'd be making much more right now
Not really, minecraft only made about 500 million before Microsoft stepped in and hasn't made a whole lot more since. Notch probably wouldn't even be a billionaire if Microsoft didn't buy the game off him.

That's your opinion, mine still stands.
It's not an opinion it's a fact... me and a few buddies had a whole conversation about this earlier and it was 100% more profitable for him to just get rid of minecraft.

I really don't think this is really going to even have a very large impact on anyone outside MC-Market.. however I do agree with the point you brought up stating if you sell your account, you're losing interest in the game. If you sell it, you don't want to play anymore and if you don't play OR sell it, the name will just sit around for who knows how long. Selling it allows the OG (or any) name to stay in circulation, and build a small Minecraft sub-community of people trading those accounts.

The reason Mojang stated that account selling is illegal is probably to stop account hacking (brute forcing, social engineering emails, etc). For similar reason, selling kidney is illegal in a lot of countries (organ harvesting)

Ban Marc_Irl and then make the acct section view able for only those with 75+ rep or something.

Might also be an idea just to stop Mojang users from joining all together :p

"Lots of accounts get TID'd back. That means the owners are still active" - Their fault they didn't migrate their accounts lol
The... Am I just misunderstanding you or are you saying only unmigrateds can be taken back via a TID.

Not sure if anybody mentioned this yet (Not about to read 3 pages just to see if they did), but people pay MUCH more than $27 for a game. Just opening up Steam, for example, the first 3 seconds I find a $60 game (Far Cry Primal) for sale.
