Well, okay yes I agree that there's a lot of servers and yeah most ideas have already been done, but why just give up without trying you never know you might get lucky, if not? Well you have gained experience which is somewhat usable in the real world. Team leadership, marketing, finance management, the list goes on. But regardless why just because there's a chance to fail would you not bother?

If everyone had that attitude then quite a lot of your everyday products would simply not have been invented... after all of 200 years ago people were happy enough and didn't have a need for a computer, but if it wasn't for that one person to do it we wouldn't even be on this website now.

Look at MC-Market for example, there was already loads of other forums, Spigot, Minecraft-forum, Planet-minecraft all big and have the majority of MC players signed up. If Chris the founder had just thought 'well there's already loads of other forums I won't bother' then we wouldn't even be discussing this because MCM wouldn't exist.

To end this off, you got to try to succeed.
I'm not stopping anyone from doing anything, I'm recommending them to take a second look at what they're investing too. You can succeed, but be precautious and have a plan.[DOUBLEPOST=1497900975][/DOUBLEPOST]
What is wrong with this:

Your idea is not unique:
My idea may not be unique, but as long as it hasn't been done on the scale you build it on, no one will care!

Pricing:
3 GB Server [Aquatis] - $4.50/Month
Plugins - As much as are willing to put in.
Unlimited Slots (Also not needed) - $0
Dedicated IP (Not Needed) - $3/Month
Advertisement (Strongly Recommended) - $1-$5,000

Already a lot of servers:
Yes, there are lot of servers. But, the majority of them are run by 10 year olds who just want to own a server. There are not very many servers that reach players per day, the ones that do are much more rare.

From what I have observed from approximately 10 seconds of research on your twitter. Andy B. owned a small server which failed, after being annoyed that his perfect idea of a server failed, you got upset and writing this piece here. You know that old saying, it isnt about how many times you fell down, it's about how many times you got back up? I think that is what you need hear.
Now, of course, you could ignore this and say "Well I'll just choose a cheaper host because GGServers is expensive anyway". Most of the money you'll be spending will be going towards advertising so no matter what host you choose, the advertisement fee will never go away.
The less money you choose to invest into advertising the lower the chances you choose to have players seeing your server. Again it's possible to go without spending a single dollar in the advertisement, but it's not as wise as you would think. That's what was wrong with a big part of my server.

I pay about $30 a month to keep my server up, I spent about $1.5k on total advertisement fees, my revenue was well over $5k.

This is the worse post I have ever read. It lacks any signs of intelligence. Tell that to the surprisingly many members on here that have large servers and make thousands a month. Including myself.
This has already been stated. I'm sure I could find a lot of people that have a decent sized amount of players on there server, but I could find a ton more on this website that have decided to keep shut about their failure and would agree with what I've stated in this article. Success gets bragged upon and failure gets frowned upon.

This is ONE HUNDRED percent wrong.
If you have the right advertising technique, you will get loads.

My friend spent less than $20 on advertising and got a stable 100-150 playerbase.
In 3 weeks he has made over 4 grand, a minecraft server is a GREAT opportunity if you know what you're doing.
How many players do you have on your server right now? http://play.destinypvp.net/index.php

Actually, if you were smart enough to realize you'd see it was in maintenance.
I'm working with the same person who has two servers with a stable 100-150 playerbase.

We're planning to release at the end of June.
Make sure to mark it on your calendar if you don't believe me :)
If it plans to have such a high player base, why are you the only one who's created an account on the forums? You would think at least a few of this 100-150 players would create an account to get it hyped.

As you clearly see my name isn't Bomb, that's my friend.
And it's because we're getting the email verification to work.

The website is still in progress, we barely started working on it.
Don't you think you should have been more prepared with the forums if it's releasing in 11 days?[DOUBLEPOST=1497902061][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm trying to make sure that anyone who plans to make a minecraft server is 100% prepared and doesn't end up spending all their money in the long run.

Weird, why do people keep doing it if it constantly loses them money?
If you're an idiot with 0 experience in running servers, you might not want to start one, but honestly lots of people are making money with them, that's why there's still servers. Just because there's lots of failures doesn't mean that you should not attempt it. It's comparable to IRL startup companies. you need a really good concept or functioning company to make it. over half the startups fail. Does that mean you should stop trying? hardly.
Ofc if you have 0 starting capital you should reconsider, but if you have around $500-1000 you can make it work.
