First of all if this type of post is not allowed then I'm sorry, mods feel free to remove.

Just wanted to let you guys know that across the United States (can't speak for other countries) they've been rolling out the ability to buy Bitcoin at coinstar machines. It's those machines you see at grocery stores where you put your loose change in and can exchange for paper money instead of walking around with a crap ton of coins.

I just went to my grocery store and saw on the coinstar machine it said you can put in cash and get bitcoin. I bought $50 to test it out and it indeed works, they do it through coinme.com and they have a flat fee of 4%.

This is their link (I don't benefit at all if you check it out or not)
https://www.coinstar.com/bitcoin

Closest thing I have where I live to a "Bitcoin ATM" but it's one way only. You can only buy BTC, not sell.

My experience buying $50 of Bitcoin at Coinstar - May 1, 2019

I put $50 into the coinstar machine, I then received a voucher (it prints the code on the receipt) and it said that I "purchased" $48.00 USD worth of BTC and that my 4% fee was $2.00 USD.

Interesting information that was printed on my receipt with my redeem code:

Exchange: 1 BTC = $5,606.58 (at time of purchase)
Bitcoin Purchased: $48.00
Transaction Fee (4%): $2.00
Transaction Total: $50.00

Total Bitcoin Purchased: 0.00856128 BTC

No Expiration Date
Only $2500 may be purchased and redeemed within a 24 hour period.

I also just want to mention that this is not anonymous.
They will require you to upload 3 pictures:
- front of drivers license
- back of drivers license
- selfie of your face

And they also require your first, last name and a phone number to redeem the code.

Overall the process was very easy and once you complete the verification process, going back to the machine would be much easier the 2nd time I imagine as I wouldn't have to go through that setup process again. I rate it 9 out of 10.

One last note, this is not available at ALL coinstar machines. I actually drove to a different grocery store first that I knew had a coinstar machine only to find out that the machine at that store was not doing the BTC thing with Coinme.com so I had to hop in my car and drive to a different coinstar about 10 minutes away that DID offer it. The best way to avoid driving to different stores is to use their zip code finder on their website to see which coinstars are offering it in your area (if any).

In the end I just transferred the BTC over to my main account at Coinbase.com
I know you're not supposed to trust exchanges for storing your BTC but whatever, that's what I did with it :p
