Q&A

I chose to make another spigot when I saw there was a demand for a better spigot. I realized that people wanted not only the best quality they could get but also the best support too. To offer that I have put together a new spigot on the back of a new development team.

Stellar will continue to be worked on by its team of developers. Stellar is and still will be a great choice for servers to use, this just offers more. Stellar was recently updated and offered a huge performance boost and was stable so I was comfortable launching this new spigot with my new team.

The new developer is someone I have gotten to know over 2020 and he goes by Stacktrace. He is not new to Minecraft and brought a lot of great things to the table, so he will be maintaining the jar as of now. I am always looking to add new developers, so if you are interested reach out!

Call it bias but I believe this is the best public spigot, as it offers the best cannon performance but also offers things like async hoppers and many world ticking optimizations which add great performance boosts to gamemodes like Skyblock as well.

To purchase the spigot you will need to add me on discord Diz#2456 from there I will generate you an invoice for $500 that you will need to pay. Upon completion, you will be given access to the jar and given a license to start it. Our TOS will be attached to the invoice you pay, as well as an updated version in the discord you are invited too.

GemSpigot wasn't designed with any one particular gamemode in mind. In a nutshell, we wanted to find out what caused lag and then fix it. We showcase cannons as that is one of the best ways to show the abilities of a jar. I would love community suggestions for what to post next in a showcase!

Update 8/27/20

I have already been asked this question in dm's countless times. Even though it seems everyone wants to see a comparison, right now I don't think doing comparisons is best. I was ridiculed for "always" making comparisons to everyone's spigot. I want to do my best to showcase my spigots overall ability instead of comparing it to another. All that being said I truly believe that based on all the knowledge I have that Gem is the best public jar available. I come to this conclusion based on all available video evidence of how other spigots performs compared to how Gem performers. If you compare the video posted at the bottom of my thread and compare it to the video of Stellar or any other spigot you will see how it compares. I used the same hardware and cannons used in every other video put out under stellar.

Thread affinity results in an increase in application performance by binding a thread to a core which allows for better data caching and eliminates the need to reload it.

This spigot has everything all my previous spigots have & much more, so I'm obligated to include stellar's full feature list in this feature list as well, which shouldn't be considered a bad thing. If you read the entire thing you'll notice plenty of new features and optimizations.

Yes, performance is better in all areas. Some areas are around 20% better, while others are even 500% better. Overall though, you would probably see a 66% increase in performance using this spigot, which does justify the price.

No, this is a separate project from stellar with a different developer as well. It's simply not worth our time to allow upgrades. Stellar is still a great spigot, but for those who really want these new performance boosts, paying $500 should not be an issue.

Update 09/01/20

If you bought all the spigots that I have released over the years at their highest prices you would have only paid a max $1150. This is significantly cheaper than it would cost to have someone make you a custom jar that is at the same quality or above. How often does Apple release a new phone?

Not really honest to refuse StellarSpigot's buyers to upgrade from StellarSpigot to CrystalSpigot for $200 as we bought Stellar thinking it would be the main Spigot. Now that another top tier Spigot is available we have to pay another $500.. $800 in total.

How is this any different than StellarSpigot? $500 is extremely expensive for a jar, why should people pay $200 more than StellarSpigot? Should people expect 66% better performance than StellarSpigot, which would go along with the price?

how does this compare to stellar?

Do you have any idea what thread affinity even means? And what benefit does it provide

does the mostly single threaded minecraft server benefit from the minor optimizations of thread affinity doubtful

Yes, the server does benefit from thread affinity. You can be doubtful all you want, but that's why there are hundreds of other optimizations in the spigot as well. Not every optimization is meant to result in astronomical performance benefits, but they do all add up. If you really feel the need to complain about this specific optimization so much, there is a config option to disable it if you so choose. :)

So this must be the same quality as Hyperion right, or even better? Since it's the same price.

I find the price so expensive for a public spigot especially since we just see a spigot which supports several canons no benchmark of fact which proves that for 500 euros we have better performances.

I think people should learn how to make plugins optimized first because having a 500 euro spigot won't change anything if your server has 100 plugins.
100 plugins doesn't matter if their well written, if you go and skid 100 plugins from leaks yeah your probably gonna have an issue but by no means does that mean people shouldn't buy an enterprise level spigot especially if they want a suitable environment for their players.

Just throwing my personal OPINION into the mix here, feel free to fully ignore what I have to say if you want to. Also noting my server's highest peaks are usually around ~150 spanning multiple spigot servers so I might not have a leg to stand on.

From my personal experience, Spigots are usually the last thing on your list of things you should look into optimizing as a server owner (apart from Cannon based servers, even then plugins/basic paperspigot help lots) and paying $500 for a spigot is usually something not worth doing. Most issues come from users using forks of other plugins and not being able to identify lag issues.

Diz literally admitted into taking features from his other existing spigots and placing it into a new one but changing the lead dev.
This spigot has everything all my previous spigots have & much more, so I'm obligated to include stellar's full feature list in this feature list as well, which shouldn't be considered a bad thing.
If you are a server owner that can afford to spend money on $200, $300, $500 spigots you should probably either find someone that does not release a new JAR so frequently or buckle down and prepare to spend more on a custom one then not have to upgrade.

Not trashing the product, not trying to stop people that want to buy it but I feel it is important for potential buyers to know that from Diz's past actions he seems to want to push sales onto his newer products over keeping 1 product the best it could be. His model would probably be better suited to a monthly fee but he chooses to do it this way and while there is nothing wrong with how he operates it is something to note.

Otherwise, would be nice to see a config example alongside other forms of testing (showing off how much the hopper system improves over the classic make it tick 66% less, showing direct comparisons between this and basic spigot and basic taco/paper avoiding comparisons between competing spigots).

GLWS and stay informed people!

Which versions does it support? Would love to see a good cannoning spigot on 1.16 it would fit great with all the new updates.
