13+ Age Verification

Now, I have no idea how this could be verified, sorry, but it's just getting on my nerves right now that I see every day a new kid that there's basically no possible way that they're 13 or above.
Now, I'm also always getting some messages from my friends on discord and other chats:
"I joined MC-Market when I was 12 but now I'm 13 so they can't ban me lOl".

Having some way to verify that you're 13 or above would help both 12 or younger kids (By making sure they wont see anything they shouldn't.), and the 13+ "teens".

This site was created for 13+ people, not for some kids.

Even this thread was just created regarding that this user joined MCM when he was 12 but now because he's 13 he can't be banned.

I realize that such thing would be hard to implement but come on.. these kids are a part of what's ruining this site.
Note: I'm not saying that all 12 or younger kids are immature and can't act like grownups, but, sorry, although most of them are.

If you disagree with this please write why. I would also love to hear some ways of age verification.

Just thought I would age some information here: The age requirement of being at least 13 years old is not a requirement set by MC-M. It's set out by COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule), and as per the name, is set out for the protection of children's privacy.

As has already been mentioned in replies, there's no easy way for MC-M to implement such a thing. I would rather deal with a few children on the site, than risk sending a photo of either my passport, driving licence or any other form of ID to a random Minecraft company located in Australia (especially if you've only just signed up).

From what I've been on the website, I don't really see a lot of immature people. 90% of the people here are mature enough to be on this site. A age verification for a MIENCRAFT forum is just stupidly ridiculous.

Look. The illusion that someone suddenly becomes mature at age 13 is stupid. Most people on here wouldn't know mature if it slapped them in the face, and a large part of them are 15+. Hell, there's probably 18+ people on here that act like they're 12. Even I've been plenty immature at times, though I wish you lots of luck finding those few hundred posts among my ten thousand.
Even if there was a magical way to solidly ban everyone that's <13, it wouldn't noticeably increase the maturity levels of this site.

I don’t really see a problem with letting <13 people on the site. As long as they are mature enough to be able to do a couple of deals, rack up some rep, and make some friends, I don’t really see an issue. Plenty of people on this site are <13, some of them you can tell, some of the, you can’t.

That's completely false. And this proves my point, under 13 year olds aren't the only self centered immature ones. Because you play minecraft too, and that's a bit more sad if you're over 13. These people deserve to be here as much as you do so you should fuck off.

This isn’t a big problem at the moment. This will just be something that will add to the backlog. Most new users won’t want to go through verification even if it’s simple.

It’s unnecessary and not needed.

I would trust no staff member with my ID lol... i'd be fine with my student id though.
