Imagine if they would've discovered the cure to cancer.
This is argument is stupid.
Any person alive today could likely find the cure to cancer if they were to pursue medical school. An issue with people who can't afford to have a child is that they would not be able to afford to put their children in a medical school or help them pursue their knowledge. It could also be an issue in colleges or to the government if we put our funds away from research and to other uses. Sometimes it is not always one fault, it can be several that cause humanity's knowledge to slow.

You act as though having a rough child hood makes you unsuccessful at life.
The point of the response was to show how stupid the argument was.
You have no right to assume the future of the child in question, as you obviously don't know.[DOUBLEPOST=1567795166][/DOUBLEPOST]
*disagrees because nothing else kills people*
I'm disagreeing because your argument is extremely dumb.

I have the right to assume and make educated guesses because those who grow up in rough childhoods, are at risk to dangerous coping methods. It may also be possible that a family, that had no involvement in abortions, can't afford to send their kid to medical school to become the "person who cures cancer".

That's not your decision. It's the persons. Preemptively slaughtering a child because you're poor and because you think they might become a criminal is horrific. Sounds like Eugenics to me.

It's not just that one person will believe it's a criminal. Please go read my discussion, it's very hard to miss as it's 3 very long paragraphs, that talks about how the kid could become dangerous if not in the correct environment. That is the person's job to take care of them if they choose to have a child, but someone who cannot afford to have a kid, whether it be spending it on bad choices or just not having any support for the kid, should not need to force them into an unsafe environment. (as it is similar to a full-time job and often times the baby cannot be brought to work)

Furthermore, it is not slaughter, as that would be to kill many people cruelly and unfairly. In those paragraphs, I explained how a fetus is not alive and what defines life.

Well looking in terms of philosophy, life means to be conscious. Being conscious is basically the state of being aware of yourself and your actions/behavior/etc. When you look in the mirror, you can determine that's you. Now imagine the same scenario, but a less intelligent creature (not specifying one) does not recognize itself in the mirror. Humans, and likely some other intelligent creatures are able to understand what they do. This comes from our brains. A baby, simply put a baby who does not have a fully developed brain, would not be able to have a consciousness until 5-6 months in the womb. This would be far after abortions are possible for the woman in this scenario. Without a consciousness, you cannot learn, or think for that matter. Try remembering anything from when you were born or were in the womb. Now I will imagine you cannot, and that is because our brains were not complex enough to store images, especially not that as different as a hospital bed compared to a sack of belly.

Regarding a few more of your points, such as "why should someone else decide if I live and enjoy life...". It might not be at all. Women could be ruining their lives to keep the baby. Even if they work hard, or get help to raise it, there's a high risk of someone in this situation becoming dangerous to the child or making them seem unwanted. Whether this is through child abuse or the child experiencing bullying at school for not having what other kids might, depression and other mental illnesses could affect both parties. Depression in teenagers or other untreated mental illnesses are rising and can affect themselves or even other students at school. This child might even bully other kids, cause them to lose hope, or even inflict the lives of other kids as we see more and more commonly in the news. Simply put, a mother may choose to remove their unborn child while they can to prevent any future pain both literally and metaphorically to more than one person, including other parents, teachers, students, children, and persons. This is not to say that they can't enjoy life, but that it would be more of a risk and possibly a danger if it is proven the mother cannot raise the kid. On the other hand, adoption can make the child's life much harder as well, as they might not be getting the right education or medical attention. This is often seen in foster care situations and can affect the child's mental health and prevent them from going farther in the future.

Lastly, I saw someone in this comment section who claimed all pills were successful or were extremely close to. Like all things in this world, not everything is perfect. There are aspects that could lower the success rate of birth control, such as hormones, which we cannot prevent. Hormones are passed through genetics and often times have no available cure. Why? Because not every medical situation is tendered to the needs of a single human being. Some of you may have experienced this if you go to the doctor with an illness, and they have to run several tests just to figure out what the issue is. Since an illness is widespread, this would likely be much easier than dealing with how said person's hormones work and then creating an entirely new cure just so they don't have to have a baby. It is incredibly likely that if you were in this scenario, that you wouldn't know why your birth control pills aren't working. The side effects of a failed birth control pill aren't just pregnancy though. It can result in extended bleeding, which can be from the unborn child. So if you don't want a fetus to "die" in a much faster way, why isn't there an argument on the cons of birth control or the issues surrounding failed attempts? There simply isn't enough research for women and their safety.

1st Paragraph: That's not what life is. Life begins at conception, when the egg is fertilized. Not some arbitrary definition of understanding.

2nd Paragraph: You do not have the right to a pain free life. Life is life, shit happens. Abusive parent? Congratz CPS exists. Bullying? Grow some skin. People have an infinite possibility for good and evil. It's their choice. Once again, you cannot kill someone who is inconveniencing you. Life isn't easy, and that is no excuse for abortion.

3rd Paragraph: Oh, believe me. I have my own opinions on birth control. But I'll just say this.
Don't do the deed if you aren't ready for a kid. It is your responsibility. The perfect form of birth control is, to not have sex, a 0% failure rate.

Your first statement is up for debate. There is a biological definition of life, that scientists agree and disagree to, and a philosophical view, that those in the field, also agree to disagree to. Here's an interesting article that'll help you form your side with more facts: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jvchamary/2019/03/27/what-is-life/#10f42bdb1c77 Secondly, children should be allowed a pain-free life because they are not fully aware of everyday political and social issues. They should be raised in a responsible manner and given the help, they need to grow. Although it is true that not every kid who goes through a rough childhood will be violent, there are many studies that show serial killers were often abused and became what they are today. Lastly, there will never be a world where people don't choose to just not have sex. There are aspects in which people are unaware their pills aren't working and situations where women are forced into deeds they don't want to do. (I will not be continuing my argument as it is 4 am, and I would prefer to sleep.)

It's not up for debate, it's common sense.

No one is *allowed* a pain-free life. Children aren't children forever, they grow up and begin to understand, I'm not sure what political and social issues have to do with their ability to even live. You have the right to DUE PROCESS. You cannot deny a persons right to life without them first committing a crime worth of that punishment. All life has value, not just ones with a good upbringing.

If you choose to have sex, then it's your responsibility. You can't just go *Oops* and kill the child. Actions have consequences.
Rape is not a valid excuse. The child is innocent. The child should not be punished for the wrongs the rapist committed.
