Hi,

First of all, this is a thread which states my personal opinion. The outcome of the poll is just to give us an idea. I promise in no way that what gets voted the most will actually happen. Mick and tjrgg are sleeping so I thought I'd pick up some opinions so we can take actions fast.

As most of you know, Mojang has been locking a lot of accounts lately. Many people just lost access to their accounts and have no way to recover them.

Let me give my personal opinion on the entire account selling thing and after that I'll address some (possible) solutions. IMO there's no real solution to this.

I personally find the entire business toxic. It's not moral, most likely not legal and just a stupid thing. You steal someone's account, sell it and make your pocket money with that? Yeah, that just sounds terrible. Let's also not mention it's a very unstable business in many ways. Locking accounts, People TID'ing their accounts back, and the list just goes on and on. When I became admin back in August, I told the previous owner the same thing and I was honestly thinking "Removing the sale of accounts could actually make the forum less toxic and less of a scam paradise". Many months after that thought, I can confirm it 100%. I went through many threads, scam reports and sections and I believe removing the account section would be one of the best moves for the future of MC-Market.

Another that's worth mentioning, Scam reports. I don't see any possible solution to the countless chargebacks that will occur. So I highly doubt we could providing further support on scam reports regarding account sales.

So, what solutions do I see:
  • The most logical and most effective would be to disallow the sale of accounts on the entire forum completely. We can't do something like "remove the sections but allow sale of it". We either allow it, or not at all. Reason behind this is scam reports. Now you might say, "Allow the sale of accounts but don't provide support on scam reports." - We can't do that. If someone scams by selling accounts, we'd have a scammer on the forum, everyone would be calling him a scammer while it can't be resolved via a scam report.
  • Ignore the entire situation and continue the sale of accounts. - I really can't see this happening. I just can't...
Suggest anything as I'm completely out of ideas. I'll add anything reasonable to the list and poll.

As for MCM's future, most people are saying "RIP MCM". I think this is far from true. Sure, sale of accounts is a big thing. Sure, it's bringing a lot of traffic. However, removing it will not make the forum die. I personally have been brainstorming around MCM ever since I've joined the staff team and i've shared some of my secret ideas which could make MCM grow with some people and most of them liked them! However right now, the forum is improving, but accounts are not worth having anymore with these recent events. The amount of reports, scam reports and administration it brings along simply makes it not worth having imo.

I never really showed this much hate against the entire account selling business but I think it's getting really terrible now and I'd personally like to see accounts removed from MC-Market completely.

Vote. If you have anything to say, please don't hesitate to do so.

Keep everything on topic and clean. I'll remove any posts which are irrelevant and don't contribute to the thread. it's a serious thing and should be treated as such.

I hope one day I get to see DarthVader sitting on Mineplex. RIP to all the OG accounts that Mojang has now locked.

Just remove it. It's only a matter of time before more accounts get locked, and keeping the entire section up will only cause further issues and end in more scam reports.
Scam Report:

User who scammed you: Mojang Support
Other Names: Marc, Marc_IRL, Mojang
Proof: Pictures showing that I can't get into my accounts :/

What can MCM do? Nothing.

Just remove the section now, it will prevent further damage.

I really don't see the issue with putting up a little warning saying "SELLING OR BUYING MINECRAFT ACCOUNTS IS AGAINST MOJANG'S TERMS OF SERVICE. ANY ACCOUNT SOLD OR BOUGHT HERE COULD BE TERMINATED AT ANY TIME. YOU PURCHASE AT YOUR OWN RISK." in the accounts section.

Why does the entire section need to be closed? At least give the business a week to see how things play out after all this drama. All of you people supporting it being closed are going to regret it a week from now when there's new ways of getting and selling OG accounts and you can no longer do it here while people are profiting from it elsewhere. You're effectively just taking the OG account business and freely shipping it off to another website for them to profit from. It's moronic and nobody with any business sense would ever do this if they were running a real market website unless they were genuinely threatened with legal action by Mojang. Until that point, OG accounts should be allowed to be sold here and I think anyone that says otherwise is just being way too over-dramatic and having a knee-jerk reaction to this.

Monty and I have lost our fair share of accounts, and we don't even take part in the OG account business anymore, so I am saying all of this out of concern for the site itself. We rake in a lot of money from our services on this website and my deep worry is that by driving account sellers out of the site and over to other markets, this market will slowly decay over the course of the next few months into something that is totally insignificant.

I'm not saying no to closing the accounts section - I'm just saying, let's wait and see and play it by ear. Let's see how things work out in the next week and if the account business returns to some form of normalcy. There's a lot of misinformation going around right now so I think everyone just needs to take a deep breath, chill out, and reconsider their position on this issue.

The accounts section has been hidden until an official decision is made on this matter. Feel free to continue to post your thoughts here and continue voting on the poll.

At this point, all members should refrain from posting threads offering to buy or sell accounts anywhere on MC-Market. Any thread offering to buy or sell a Minecraft account will be trashed.

If people could be like real people and not scam this would be a better place. People hide behind a computer screen to much.

No; I'm not. If you have the transaction ID, you can get your account back EVEN IF Mojang lock it.[DOUBLEPOST=1456815165][/DOUBLEPOST]
Not if you have to provide proof via the email.
You are missing the point. Yeah, it's cool to be able to buy accounts from other people when they have a better name than you, but you need to keep in mind this is against Mojang's TOS and I'm pretty sure they could do legal stuff and possibly get MCM shut down for allowing the illegal sales of Minecraft accounts. And if they lock your account, it's locked. The TID isn't going to get it unlocked.

It will get it unlocked. I deleted my account, and they asked for a TID (which I didn't have).

They aren't going to shutdown MC-Market.

Just do your service at your own risk, perhaps verify every single person who wants access to the accounts section?

That way, the Mojang Staff can see that we dont sell accounts anymore ;).
you want them to have to verify the thousands of members that use the accounts section by hand? good luck with that. You do realize there's about 30k people registered, right?

You realise thousands of people don't use the accounts section.

I mean - close the accounts section from people who aren't signed in / don't have access.

Then allow Premium users to trade accounts if they get verified (via a Skype call).

Informal, but it would work and wouldn't take too long.
That would be the stupidest idea ever. Why should staff have to waste their time and verify every user via a Skype call and manually verify everyone? It is informal and is stupid.

I'm sure a lot of people here use the account second, it's possible that thousands do. It's one of the main reasons MCM is popular.

So don't close it and deal at your own risk?

"I have some OGs to sell, one word, personal message me".

It doesn't affect anyone if someone decides to sell their account - so let them do it.

You're still missing the point. For all you know I could be a Mojang staff member PM'ing you right now.

And what would be the point of the sections if all threads would be 'PM me for some OGs'?

Only deal with trusted users - this user is two weeks old - not trusted.

I'd say your judgement would be the best thing to use, as it is DEAL WITH RISK.

Furthermore, perhaps you could have the OG section with people's MCM contact names, each account can be assessed by Doge to check if it really is L33T, and then the persons username is put in the account section so that people can personal message them.

Or like I said, only TID accounts (you can get these back via support ticket).

I don't see how this solution would affect anyone who doesn't use OGs as their main business - so give it a try?
you still are missing the point. let's not make it harder for staff, and let's not decide jobs for specific staff members.

A thing like staff verifying accounts and whatnot will never happen. It gives us workload and more responsibility which we don't really need at this point.

Also, you can't get TID accounts back as they ask for extra security questions like in what country did you purchase the account.

Sorry if this wasn't answered, but what if it's your own account your selling, like for the name or cape?[DOUBLEPOST=1456830858][/DOUBLEPOST]Just realized I lost my TID to my main due to Gmail not wanting to have archives of my 2014/2013 mails :/

It's illegal and not allowed. Either be a legitimate marketplace that Mojang supports or be one they really dislike and have it out for. I think you can both make more money and attract more people doing the latter.
