Add a NUETRAL dislike rating...

I know how the administration team here dislikes the negative rating system, so they disabled it. However, on some posts and threads, a simple thumbs down/dislike rating would be very helpful! Of course, change it to uncounted/nuetral rather than negative (default). It could also be a disagree rating instead if "dislike" is too negative in nature.

I notice that to be the trend in 'suggestions'. A lot of decent ideas that have positive feedback just get forgotten.

It was already implemented, and then removed because of some inter-staff feuding over it. We never really got a follow up on why it's gone, and if it's coming back. It would seem the majority of the feedback has been in favor of it.

I don't see how it can be abused. It was supposed to be a neutral rating, so it doesn't actually subtract rep points.

We're already experimenting with a feedback/reputation system as we speak, which we plan to implement in the near future. We believe that this will take away the "ratings are rep" thinking and that users will realize that ratings don't matter when it comes to trading and doing deals. Therefore, negative ratings shouldn't have any impact on trading.

I'd love to hear what you guys think about that.

We believe that this will take away the "ratings are rep" thinking and that users will realize that ratings don't matter when it comes to trading and doing deals. Therefore, negative ratings shouldn't have any impact on trading.

I'd love to hear what you guys think about that.

This is a community full of spiteful and vengeful people. I guarantee there is going to be users who do nothing but down vote people simply because they don't like them, and not because of the substance of their post. Negative impact rating is just begging for drama.

This would make ratings more irrelevant compared to reputation/feedback which is good.

The difference is, you're going to open the floodgates to QQland. Trust me. I've been to the future. I saw the countless threads of people crying about being targeted with downvotes. My future self is here now writing this reply to warn you of the dire consequences. This isn't Reddit, and this community is for the most part very toxic. This will not end well. It will be abused.

It's very simple to convey the message that rating =/= rep. Change the name. Come up with something less formal. I wouldn't blame someone for thinking rating could mean rep, very similar in meaning, and a new person wouldn't know better.

Or here's an even better idea, remove it all together. Leave the ability to rate a post, but remove all traces to it's tabulation. Very easy to do by commenting out the corresponding CSS in the extras.html. Why do people even need to see how many ratings they've given or how many they have. Remove that variable, and it's no longer reason to think it means anything other than a simple agree, disagree, funny, etc etc.

Do you have a way of removing abusive ratings, in that case? I seem to recall being informed that staff aren't really capable of removing ratings that are added to someone's account. If someone goes on an alt and starts negative rate-bombing people to oblivion, what would be done about it? Because I can guarantee that that sort of thing would happen.
