Allow basic insults

Shouldn’t be getting warning points for calling someone a retard or a dumbass, this only started being enforced as of recently.

This should be a no brainer...

Report it and it will be removed. I don't see how this suggestion would affect such behavior? Whether it would be allowed or not you would still have to report the reputation because it would be considered as invalid.

Tried, it was denied because it's well within their right to neg rep me for that, which It shouldn't be hence the thread

I agree, I get warning points when people piss me off and I call them retarded

I haven't been here for a while but if people are getting warning points for basic insults as made out by OP then I support this.

I personally don't care about profane language but there are users that do and consider it offensive, even if it's "basic insults" like "retard" and others that have been mentioned above.

Did you report it before or after the new reputation format started being enforced? I really doubt that reputation like that would be well within someone's right ever since reputations got more deal-based.

EDIT: I just looked at your reputation and apparently you also trashed the user's thread, which does give him a valid reason to add negative reputation to your account. So you didn't "just" call someone something, you also broke a rule.

Did you report it before or after the new reputation format started being enforced? I really doubt that reputation like that would be well within someone's right ever since reputations got more deal-based.

No clue when it was introduced however I presume before, I think it's considered against the rules if I report his reputation because he is banned and can't defend it himself however I'm not sure

I have edited my post above. Also, the rules don't affect such situations, simply report it and it will be removed if the user is indeed banned.

If we’re being offensive to others through insanely basic insults, you should just suggest to ban profanity on this site as a whole because that’s the most openly offensive thing on here. Toxicity and harassment is a different thing since that’s even worse, but we should not be getting warning points just because someone got offended when they were called a dumbass.

Do you have proof or actually know someone that got warned for calling someone a dumbass? I get where you're coming from but you must also think of how something like this would be enforced. I doubt staff members would just go through a list of swear words every single time something (even minor) is reported and deem it offensive or not, or something similar like that.

I believe this topic is something that's being affected by actual behavioral changes (people becoming more offended, or offended over the slightest thing).

You can legitimately ask one of the users who commented on this thread as he was suspended for calling a user such. I’ve seen it at times happen. And I have even talked to the staff member who appears to be handing out most of these and they said an insult by definition is disrespecting someone, sooo yeah

I definitely think it is situational but there’s a clear line between disrespect/harassment/toxicity and what I’m talking about here

That's fairly out of context, he needed help with something so I went out of my way to give him something that would work if he set it up properly, he then replied in an ignorant and rude manner and then I told him I'll report the neg rep and there shouldn't be an issue

Yeah, could be. Just report and it will be removed, you won't even have to fight with anyone over it as the other user is banned.
