Banned Users and Scam Reports

Recently, I saw a scam report created on avsterbone by a user who has already been banned. This user was banned for scamming.

I'm proposing this suggestion: Banned users should not be allowed to create a scam report. Let me know what you all think about this.

Well, why should we allow banned users (who were obviously banned for a good enough reason) to regain access to the site and make a scam report?

Because not doing so would basically allow a potential scammer on the site.

And no, scamming isn't allowed anywhere in the world in any way or form. It's fraud however you put it.

If user A scams user B for a MC account, then a user should be able to scam User A to get the account back

Let's put it like this (extremefication, but since scamming is a crime, it is relevant)
Should the police refuse for a convicted criminal to testify at the court case of another, because said criminal got robbed/assaulted or otherwise affected by the other breaking the law, just because the first criminal got sentenced to prison and technically should not leave it?
Don't think so.
Since staff can be said to be policing this website, I daresay that's a pretty accurate comparison.
Though I do have to say, I wasn't expecting anyone to be released on parole for the duration of the case, which is pretty much what happened.

From my opinion, if avsterbone did scam him, MCM is liable and he should be allowed to make a report. Even if it wasn't off of the website. If he scammed, then he should be banned. This is making banned users targeted by scammers with these scammers who are banned to get scammed by people who are supposedly good. From what I've seen in that scam report, avesterbone and vigilante have no fight. They thought it was ok because he was banned. However, I don't think it was right for Tri to point out that vigilante had an account that was previously banned.


In summary

• Scamming is scamming no matter what it is
• If a user is scammed that is already banned, they deserve an opportunity to try and win the scam report. Let's be honest, if you're banned, you still look at the website. I am commissioned by members that are banned including him and I never have issues

ah, got confused a bit. happens a lot to me lately, especially after midnight. I may need to call in the warranty on my brains.

Anyway, while I'll agree with several on here banned members should not be allowed to post oustide the scam reports section, I'm glad we've got a policy of allowing scam reports by them, as well as people willing to comply with the conditions.

while it was definitely sparked by him, I believe it is meant to be a general case as well. anyway, we agree on the specific case, and the difference on the general case is only minor.

You're crazy. That is honestly a waste of time. Instead, you would contact minecraft and give them a tid etc

I disagree with allowing banned members back on this site and giving them access to their fellow members in order to scam them once again. For all we know, members such as ImTri could be scamming in PMs while they are on here for their scam report. Some scam reports have even lasted over a month, if I recall correctly. This would allow former scammers onto the forum for a large amount of time. This is dangerous, in my opinion.

However, I do see the point that BeBosny and other staff make in regards to banned members being able to report scams. Scamming scammers is still scamming.

Perhaps some sort of middle-ground would be the best solution? Allowing scammers back onto the site in order to make scam reports, but limiting their accounts so that the only forum they can post in is scam reports. They should also not be able to send PMs, or post on their walls, or do anything that a normal account would be able to do. If that's something possible for staff to implement, then I think that'd be best.

I was going to suggest this, thank you for saving my time. Banned users shouldn't be using mcm anyway, so why should they get support from us? They simply do not deserve it.

As we all know, ImTri is the biggest douchebag of mcm, he was banned for scamming and always comes back with a new account. Does he DESERVE to make a scam report and get help from us? NO he DOESN'T.

I think the better idea would be to just ban the both users for scamming. I mean if they both scammed I don't see why we shouldn't deal with this.
