Hey all,

Recently, MCM made a good step in the right direction by enforcing strict policies against resource leakers and those affiliated. However, in the eyes of many, it was a half-baked effort knowing that this site thrives on the Minecraft TOS violating sales of accounts (and the other range of TOS violating services this website facilitates). I wish to see the removal of accounts as a step towards making this marketplace a platform that actually cares about ethics.

Why would we want to ban the sale of accounts?
  1. Legitimize the marketplace. The site hypocritically enforces Rule 5.4 by striking down those who violate product ownership rights heavily, yet turns a blind eye to the sale of Minecraft Accounts which violates Mojang’s TOS. Choose one or the other. Remove 5.4 and commit to being a black market, or equally enforce your own rules across all sections of the forum. Being inconsistent and half-assed only annoys the community even more.

  2. Get rid of our most toxic and notorious members. The accounts market is saturated, comprising of crackers stealing accounts, returning ban evaders and is also the section holding the most linked scam reports often closing due to inconclusive evidence.

  3. The site no longer needs to allocate resources to develop features and moderate the section. "Opportunity cost"

  4. MC-Market will not die. By considering points 1 and 3, MCM can become an even better place for everyone and expand into even more markets. There are far more and far better opportunities out there.

Fun reads :
The site doesn’t need to be plagued by accounts anymore. This site has a bigger future for itself by legitimizing itself into a community that leads others. Honestly, I shouldn't even need to be trying to convince everyone by explaining all the benefits of removing the section. This should not have been even allowed on this site in the first place.

I believe that this should be accepted. If this is accepted I believe it should be coming with a series of changes that convert MC-Market over from a minecraft market to a regular marketplace. Starting with the title under "MC-Market"

Look @ the entrepreneurs on this site, MOST r from OG sections and its a massive market with more to come, Spigot forums will just overwrite this forum for the og section to not exist as that's the thing keeping it alive.

(entrepreneur examples.
Doggy Fanpage
Glove
Bzl
Doge
Poket
Luke.
Chelsea back in like 2018
etc.)

“Massive market more to come”? It’s a saturated market, what are you on about. It’s so saturated, people are encouraged to jack accounts from each other for a quick buck. Plus I don’t recognise the so called entrepreneurs you’re talking about, but if they made their money off illegitimate sales of accounts, I wouldn’t be proud of that.

JACK ACCOUNTS FROM EACHOTHER JUST PROVES YOU'RE TALKING OUT OF YOUR ASS AHEIUGHKJEDFGJ;LFKEGJERL;KGJERTKLJGJRTH AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

I used to be a moderator on this site before. I’ve banned users for such activities with definite proof. I’d say you’re the one talking out of your ass.

I do think this is a legitimate concern. While MC-Market is moving away from minecraft in general, account selling is still a thing, mainly minecraft accounts. This is where people go to sell accounts (among other places). This removes the constant flow of users for this reason. If there's no general topic or attention to be drawn, the site will grow slower and possibly die. It's a risk.

- plugin/devs, for the most part, go to spigiot, minecraft accounts = mcm

And plugins maker encourage the sell of Plugins (against Mojang EULA)
Selling plugins is not a violation of Mojang’s EULA. If you have any questions about their policies, feel free to PM me. I can provide you all of the relevant references.

illegal and immoral practices
You keep mentioning how selling accounts is illegal and immoral. I don't think you're choosing the correct words for this.
Although it is not in line with the ToS of Mojang, that is not breaking any law (for example: Facebook v. Power Ventures)
Nor is it immoral. These are accounts we own. That we paid for. If we want to sell/trade it so another user can have a cool name in a block game, whats immoral about it? Please elaborate on this as it seems to be one of your big reasons for disbanding the account section.

They're trying to branch out and this forum does have a lot to offer but the rules are really strict and this really isnt a forum made for account selling but its just being done on it. There are a ton of low tier users who profit off of semi ogs which grows the community like crazy kids thinking they can make profit that then go exploring on the forum finding something they like and growing the community, the main draw of this forum is the minecraft account selling which is the bad part

I don't have much to offer to this conversation except for what I believe could be important, consistency. If we are to ban the selling of Minecraft accounts due to EULA reasons, I believe this should extend to all accounts (or other things) that are prohibited in being sold. Basically the social media accounts and emails (excluding youtube) would have to be removed and gift cards such as Amazon's.

The belief in morality and ethics has always been a subjective case. To me, it is immoral to agree to a TOS on the purchase of an account, then blatantly ignore it.
