We used to own our hardware, however we switched to renting a couple years ago. We did this because it brought the cost down for our clients, as well as provided much better DDoS protection. We currently use OVH.

If you saw the post before my edit, I apologize. The staff member that posted it recently came back to work with us and was unaware of this change.

Edit:

We currently have a combination of rented and owned hardware. We have plans on getting more owned hardware in the future.

dammmmmmmm this is expensive (alot more expensive then other hosting)

Compared to other companies with the same quality and service, we are quite a bit less. Other companies that compare run around $10 a gig. Yes, you can get cheaper hosting, however you often get what you pay for.

"You get what you pay for" is not correct anymore. OVSUS provides $1 game hosting and does not oversell because his machines are based in EU and are like $80 for 128 gb of ram (Might be wrong) and he profits from what is left over. Same with Ian.D except he owns his hardware and NoLag and many others. The truth is, in todays market. You get WAY MORE than what you pay for.

As I stated "you often get what you pay for", you are correct, there are exceptions to this. I know Ian, he is a good person, and they run a good hosting company. I was going to look at ovsus, however it looks like their site is down. And yes, we have looked at getting cheaper servers overseas, but decided to keep it in America, this does bring the price up. It looks like NoLag only has E5 servers available, this is good for basic minecraft, however when you start getting into hosting modpacks it can cause some issues for your clients.

I guess that's true. Why did you stop hosting your own servers? Colocate them and you save A LOT more money.

We switched to renting servers because it saved us money, which in turn saved our clients money. One of the issues we had with the first data center when we colocated was the lack of DDoS protection. Due to the lack of proper DDoS protection, nodes were easily taken offline which caused downtime for our clients. By switching to rented hardware it allows us to use data centers with some of the best DDoS protection the market has to offer. In addition, renting servers allows us to use newly released technology and spend our time working with clients than worrying about colocated hardware. There are also a lot of extra costs involved in owning your own servers such has replacing broken hardware.

I've known Shad/VA-Hosting since 2014, they are a good hosting company. Glad to see they are still around and staying active on forums!

We never had any issues with our 426 active services :)

This looks VERY nice! Though the prices are $2.50/GB. That doesn't seem too high. I might consider purchasing a minecraft server from you guys in the future! Have a good day!

Thanks for checking us out! We are currently running the 'MCM1FL' code for all of our Basic packages. This brings it to $1/GB, and lasts until the end of July! We hope to see you soon :D

Couldn't agree more with this statement.
