lockdown is a attempt at buying time until enough vaccines are in the hands of hospitals and further research on the long-term damages to the body. We are able to keep these "low" numbers of deaths because the hospitals are still not flooded, but they are definitly on the breaking point.
Not worth it to lockdown based on numbers of "infected people" with a test that is not even specific to this coronavirus
The social/economic cost is already way to high
If the United States had better management of its economy and understood how to properly compensate for the money lost during a pandemic, we wouldn't have to half-ass lockdowns to only minorly keep cases "down." I've said it since the beginning of the pandemic and I'll say it again, we cannot expect cases to magically disappear with a partial lockdown. Without strict enforcement, people are still able to go to parties and engage with others, it simply doesn't make sense.
If we're prioritizing the economy, why even lockdown? If we're prioritizing saving lives, why only partially put the effort in?
