Before you agree or disagree with this - read the entire thread

Positives:
1. You can hide your mineman accounts from Mojang, which could be fixed using this
http://www.mc-market.org/threads/157082/
I know having permissions per tab is possible, because only you and staff can see your warnings tab.

2. People can't see your posts!!! Spooky secret post and rate booster?!?? Wrong

3. People can't post shit on your profile!!!! Wrong
http://www.mc-market.org/members/3570/
You can prevent people from posting on your profile.

Negatives:
1. People can't see your reputation, mainly bad if you have been neg'd and are trying to hide it

2. People can't see your past usernames, and you could limit and change and scam more

In all reality, you should have nothing to hide on your profile. Please do not vote disagree just because you have thought so in the past, and if you do rate disagree then post why so a possible solution can be thought of.

As you can see, there is only one REAL positive reason to limit your profile, and the other 2 I have shown to actually be negatives.

If it's a risk then is it not reasonable for MCM to try and decrease that risk? We're a marketplace, why should you be able to make your information harder to find?
This is a marketplace, but it's also a community forum. I know some people that come here just to participate with the community and not participate in the market.

In addition, people might not necessarily want to share information with just anybody. They may just want to share information with people that are genuinely interested in doing business with them, for example. It's not about making the information harder to find. It gives the seller the ability to also decide who to do business with as well.

So, to answer your question, no, it's not reasonable. While restricting this may make buyers happy, you may be upsetting some sellers and you need to find a solution that works for both parties, not just one. I'd argue that the way it works now works for both parties. Buyers just need to quit complaining and simply stop working with people they have doubts about.

A problem I've found with Business Accounts is people limit their profile, it makes it so that you can't see the owner of the account before applying for a server, or ordering a service from them.

This has been implemented a few years ago, just never moved to the right place.

I'll move this to accepted now, thanks for the suggestion.
