Tbh this post literally makes it easier to scam reputable members if you think about it, it's way more likely that someone with 0 rep scams than someone with high rep/vouches/whatever the fuck we are calling it now.
It's your choice to buy it lol, I never said trustworthy members would even trust new members enough to purchase from them....
Common sense, people.

I do think that this thread is beacuse of "me" "scamming" two users of their money. The deal wasn't for much, I lent money which I didn't give yet. I have promised them to return it and I of course will, sadly due to problems and work I delayed it way to much and it got to the point for them to make a report against me which forced me to work on this getting sorted out.

I explained it badly blablabla, I have actually never scammed anyone like actually scammed. I have just lent money which I didn't return which I never will do again after I repay my debts. I have dealt with alot of users before on here and everything went well.
Also no, this wasn't due to you. I got the idea from Jurhed's banning :)

Going 50/50 is honestly one of the better ways of dealing other than a middleman. It is just a shame that someone like Jurhed would do this, but it happened and it will leave a scare on the community.

You obviously don't know what a hyperbole is.

You're literally telling new members to always go last, even if it's the fucking owner of mcm.
I have no wish to argue. Look, it's up to you to select who you want to deal with and who to go first.

I'm just saying "Beware" to newer members. Sorry if my thread came off as if I told new members to NEVER go first, I just thought for higher value items, it's better to use an extremely trust MM or simply go 50/50.

Thanks for putting in the effort with this pieguy.

I must say that as a CO here at MCM, I've seen both newer and reputable members scam other users. Any user on the internet could scam you if they wanted to know and you should always be cautious of users.

That being said, I always have the buyer "go first" and they generally don't have a problem with it, but would make a half now, half later type of deal for those that are cautious. It's up to you how cautious you want to be with the transactions you make via the internet.

Trust based on the amount of time that a user has been on the site * the number of ratings, that's my formula.

Of course, I still ALWAYS take down their full names, emails, address, etc. Just because I don't fuck with nobody

I just want to make the comment here that I never personally trusted Jurhed at all, he sold minecon capes for $60 and claimed they weren't cracked but had no tid.
Sold loads of unmigrateds.
Claimed he didn't have the skype "jurhed" and it was a scammer yet it was in his profile for like 6 months.
He was one of the fishiest, if not the fishiest members on mcm, yet people still decided to trust him. I never actually made a deal with him as I rarely ever buy anything that doesn't come with tid but he seemed as shady as they come.

Step 1: Check their posts.
Step 2: If their posts are shit, don't trade with them.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.

Anyways, why are people freaking out about this one particular scam? Sure, jurhed and Cursed are well known, but this shit happens ALL THE TIME. Jurhed was an obvious shitposter (no offense to Resilience) that started shit 24/7.

It's really common sense, guys. I've been into trading and selling shit for years now and most communities learn to accept that scammers exist. I really don't see why MCM has taken such a hit from this one scam, or if it's just a build up of it. We can't trust our government officials half the time, so why should we trust randoms on a forum?

The rule I go by after the last time I got scammed is this:
When evaluating/creating content, trust people until proven otherwise.
When working with a transaction of any kind, dont trust ANYONE. Try to make it so that both sides can complete the transaction (I usually use a 50/50 transaction). Also, very important, go by the official channels. I've seen quite a lot of situations where people go for the "friends and family" option with transactions. While this may be free of charge, its also free of buyer protection and the likes.

since the last time I got scammed (shortly before I became active here) I've been using Invoice transactions for the 50/50 system. The advantage of this is that you have an easily identifiable official record of your transaction, and it makes it pretty easy to solve disputes. You can also include your terms and agreements, so as soon as the first payment is complete they have agreed to the terms (which are perfectly visible btw). All it needs from them is any emailadress they can use.

This method may be safer for buyers, but it is more risky for sellers. I always make people pay me through friends/family so there is less of a risk that they can chargeback after I give them the product I'm selling. The only exception I have made to this rule is when a trusted member wants/has to pay as goods/services.

If they chargeback it is extremely easy to start and win a dispute if you use invoices, assuming you included your terms of agreement and can prove you delivered the file.
friends and family means that buyer and seller protection are not included.

Actually, strike scammed someone because he was sick of MCMarket, then asked Mick to ban him.

From what I've heard it is difficult to win a dispute over virtual items if you are the seller, but I wouldn't know much about that because I have never had to deal with one.
