Today marks our platform’s 8th birthday and we’re excited to announce that MC-Market is now BuiltByBit.

The word “bit” is, of course, a nod to the digital assets we’re a marketplace for, while alluding to the common expression “bit by bit”. We believe that incremental and circular growth embodies the nature of our platform as well as the businesses our community nurtures:
  1. Anyone can start their own business. Whether you’re a creator, gamer, developer, artist, freelancer, or entrepreneur, all it takes is the initiative to start and the patience to build it, bit by bit.
  2. All of our businesses are built off of the many products and services of our peers and their businesses. We fund each other, we build each other, we grow with each other, bit by bit.
We’ve grown to be a valuable website to our community as a predominantly Minecraft-focused platform. Since 2014, we’ve provided the safest and easiest platform for over 385,000 young entrepreneurs to learn about business and earn money, with half a million US dollars of resource payments facilitated in just the past year. We’re confident that we can use what we’ve learnt over the past eight years to transform the landscape of other games in the same way we have with Minecraft.

Today doesn’t mark a new beginning for our platform; Minecraft will always be at our core and our vision for the future remains the same. This rebrand merely positions us to expand our horizons and, as a result, better to serve our community. Gaming user-generated content is a rapidly growing market which we are able to further explore now that our new name no longer restricts us from venturing beyond Minecraft.

As a member of our community, you should experience no significant change beyond our new domain name and branding. The rebrand hasn’t removed any data, and you’re still able to use your exact same account with the same email address and password. All links from our previous https://mc-market.org and https://mc.mk will automatically redirect to the correct pages on the https://builtbybit.com domain forever.

We look forward to growing with you as we explore more games and continue developing ourselves as a platform where anyone can make a living and support themselves while doing what they love.

We are built by creators,
by gamers,
by developers,
by artists,
by freelancers,
by entrepreneurs,
We are BuiltByBit.

I'm so proud of how far we've come over the past 8 years; thank you for being a part of our platform and shaping who we are today.

MC-Market sounds something made for fun for Minecraft players who like to build and chat with others in 2016.
BuiltByBit sounds like something was made only so that an old forum can get modernized even though nothing has changed and it only sounds more corporate-y in 2022.

(My opinion, don't get mad at me. That's just how I see it.)
