GROUPMANAGER OR PEX?

Hey guys,

So basically I've been using groupmanager for a long time now but it looks like they're not updating it. And when I want to upgrade my server to 1.10 groupmanager won't work anymore. So that means I have to work with PEX.
So my question was can I just copy paste my config into the PEX file? And is PEX still compatible with other plugins that used Groupmanager before?

No, when you switch to PEX u will have to edit some things.

Im not a Expert with pex, but i think its a medium amount of things that need to be changed.

I'm not sure. The only thing i've heard about GroupManager is that NO ONE FUCKING LIKES IT and uses it apart from Server Owners who just started configuring tend to start of simple then expand. If I were you, it would be PEX all the way. GM is stupid, un-secure, OP users can access /GM, etc.

Oh nice I still use it because it took me endless hours to set it up so I don't want to do that again xD.

Despite how people seem to hate on GM, I have been working with servers for quite sine time now, and have used both quite a lot. However I personally prefer GM, it does the job, and does it well. Never had any problems with it, and its secure, as long as you set it up right. Its very simple, just the way it should be. I do use both, however when given the option to pick, I go with GM.

Yeah PEX is much better. I used to use groupmanager until I realized that it was garbage and switched to PEX.

Most beginners use GM[edit] because it's kindof bundled with Essentials. Some say that Pex is more difficult but I've used it from the beginning, never used GroupManager.

I can say that it seems more difficult when you switch from either to the other (having only used Pex makes GM seem difficult, vice versa). Pex has logical and refined commands, has more features, is lighter (I believe), and is the go-to for large servers, especially when you want to sync permissions across multiple worlds or use MySQL instead of a config.

And also, PEX is much safer since OP's won't have all permissions if they decide to screw up your server.
