Alright, this is going to be 100% how I feel about this. It's getting annoying to see random users who have like +7 ratings and no transactions made on MCM spamming threads like, "HUH KID WHERES THE PROOF HUH IM PRETTY SURE YOU'RE A SCAMMER YOU LOW LIFE TRASHY KID LOGIN TO MINEPLEX LOBBY 1 IN 10 SECONDS OR YOU'RE A SCAMMER KID KID KID." The saddest part is, it's not just these random users, I've seen well known and long-time users doing it. MCM has become so paranoid with scammers that it's ridiculous. I saw a thread where a kid offered to go FIRST and he was being called a scammer. Not only does this apply to general transactions, but to the whole cracking thing. Now you all are going to sit and say, "but Kenny Skill is trying to screw the economy up BECAUSE HES A GREEDY PRICK AND HE WANTS OUR MONEY." No, he's not. He's thinking of a way to combat cracking, something that, whether all you 14-year-olds thinks is right or not, is wrong. To be honest, I'd even understand if you could prove that no one has used the acc. for years and they are probably grown and forgot the emails and passwords etc., BUT SOME OF Y'ALL CRACK ANYTHING. Just like some kid on a thread said, he had his cape account cracked and sold on MCM, AN ACTIVE USER. That's all besides the point, I'm going a little off-topic. The whole point is, can we honestly adopt a fair policy for all of this? No one should be allowed to call scams on someone just because they'd prefer to provide private proof or aren't home. It's worse than sales trashing through price, it's damaging a reputation. In the real world, it's called libel and it's illegal, Anthony R can back me up on this. I'd like to see the rule put in place that you libelous speech be something against the rules from now on and everyone, even people in scam reports, are innocent until PROVEN guilty.

it is part of the culture here. people with lots of rep call people with no rep scammers to reinforce the attitude that people with lots of rep are to be respected and go second in all deals. it also creates the need for middlemen as many people with low rep/post count are totally unable to sell things like capes.

the simple fact is that a lot of people who are on here with low post count/rep are scammers. these people just scam, reset their ip, make a new account, and scam again. it's the same people doing it over and over again and all your post accomplishes is making it easier for them to do what they are doing. people calling low rep/postcount users scammers protects people who don't know any better from doing business with them. if someone wants to take the risk to buy from these users then that's their prerogative, but there *is* a high possibility of being scammed by them and pretending that there isn't is just stupid.

i don't see why it bothers you or why it is that big of an issue. if you want to sell without any issue, build a reputation for yourself. that makes sense to me.

MCM is prone to scamming, and relies on ratings for "reputation" even thogh I've seen people mention that should be changed. Spigot is a safer place, because its harder to get recruitment and is stricter in getting business, but it ensures quality. + MCM is just a marketplace... its literally a place for scammers who love capitalism and take advantage of it. There's no stopping it, and if people say you scam, you either provide hard proof you never have, or you did scam. ITs simple as that.

If people don't want to buy from low-rep, no-avatar users then they don't have to. It's a simple safety concern, and with all the scams that occur on this site I don't blame them. I would never buy something from someone with 5 posts, no avatar, and no rep because they could easily scam me and get away with it with no repercussions.

If this was a trust-everyone paradise like you want it to be then scammers would thrive even more than they already do. People are paranoid for a reason, and that reason is that many low-post/no-rep users DO scam. What is the issue with requiring them to provide more proof than others?

It's true the "rep" system isn't meant to be that, but if somebody has a lot of posts and reputation, it's obviously a lot less likely they're going to scam. Especially people who have other shops and businesses ran out of the site, or who have made legitimate deals in the past and have vouches on their profile or in their post history. I *always* look through the post history and profile of people I deal with when they have low post-count or rep, and if there are no vouches or anything there that are worthwhile to me, I don't do the deal. Why? Because it's stupid to trust somebody with no reputation whatsoever, someone who's a total stranger and who almost certainly is a scammer, given that this site is a breeding ground for them.

No, that's a hypothetical situation aimed at showing him the flaws in his logic. There is no way he can prove he didn't create that w/o telling anyone, therefore he would be a scammer in his eyes and banned.

Agreed, people are just completely paranoid. One time Blaze somehow found my Skype, and said I was "idk" on here. He said he was going to report me, then lied by saying he checked IP's when he obviously he didn't since he thought I was idk, he put so much effort into finding out I was idk, and even after I sent proof and screenshots, still didn't believe me. This is just one experience I have had with people being paranoid, I also see this on threads quite often.

lol how does it not have anything to do with scammers if you are talking about scammers. i've never gone into a thread and done the shit you're talking about, i'm just defending the people who do because I think new members/people with no rep/posts deserve to be interrogated and treated this way because in all likelihood they actually are scammers. All markets everywhere work this way. You can't just wander into some site and start peddling shit and not expect people to be wary of you and what you're selling.

Look I agree with your rep idea. But fuck off because everyone needs to provide proof for selling an account. Every shop even if the OP has lots of ratings they still provide proof. Some of the qouted msgs never said he was a scammer, we only asked for proof. I would expect a lot of people to ask for proof for the name too since none was provided. It's fucking "Mojang" and there wasn't any proof provided. Why wouldn't anyone not ask for proof. Now your right this is a forum market with no rep system. Thats why people use ratings and vouches to determine their trust. If he had provided proof when posting the account there woudn't be much fuss. All they wanted was proof and with no rep system, this is the safest way to be sure your getting what you want if you do buy it. You were on a good topic for having a rep system but after that your just saying a load of shit about how "we", MC-Market try to secure our transactions.
