So I just googled this, and apparently Google has decided that Australia is a continent....
What the fuck?[DOUBLEPOST=1493294630][/DOUBLEPOST]On the other hand, wikipedia has other things to say, calling it part of Oceania: "The term is often used more specifically to denote a continent comprising Australia and proximate islands or biogeographically as a synonym for either the Australasian ecozone (Wallacea and Australasia) or the Pacific ecozone (Melanesia, Polynesia, and Micronesia, excluding both New Zealand and mainland New Guinea)."

Why have we turned this into a "Let's roast where Mick lives" thread?

Subjective question since continent has multiple interpretations. If you define continent based off continental plates, then Australia is a continent comprised of Australia, Papua New Guinea, and half of Indonesia, but NOT New Zealand (since it's mostly on another plate). No other continent is based off continental plates alone, if they were, Asia would be 4 continents, Central America would be it's own continent, and half of Iceland would be in North America.

If you define continent off geographical area, then no, Australia is not a continent. However, Oceania is, which is comprised of Australiasia (Australia + New Zealand), Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The United Nations also defines Oceania as a continent, and not Australia.

I live in the same city as Mick (well not currently, besides the point ), some think Australia isn't a "continent" and is part of oceanica however I personally believe Australia is considered a continent. It really is just an opinion

While you buffoons have been googling the answers; I used bing. Given that if there is a God he'll put me in hell for using Bing; but it lead to another hellish website Quora. A website famous for telling people they got cancer if there's a zit on their ding dong.
According to them (or what I bothered to read). The simple answer is ''both'' according to the hellish website. If I'm not allowed to post articles of other websites here (not a clue) then you can delete the link. But if it is allowed then yeah just click this:https://www.quora.com/Is-Australia-considered-a-continent-or-an-individual-country

If you give me a name color I'll make a three page doc proving it is a continent.

If not then Cyprus vice versa for you.

Fine guys, you win.

Australia is a country, Oceania is the continent :(.

I've changed my profile from "Male from Perth, Australia" to "Male from Perth, Oceania" to stay as "accurate" as possible.

:(

EDIT: Just want to remind you all that you make me sad.

Shouldn't it be Perth, Australia still because you still live in the country of Australia? That's like me changing mine to 'Shropshire, Europe'

No. Australia isn't a country, it's a town in the country and continent of Oceania.
