I did not read the entire comment section, no, because it was the same goddamn clickbait title again, for about the 7th time this year. Asking if it's worth it, I assume you mean financially? it's a gamble.

the title wasn't click bait. Like what are you smoking lmao.
It was a legitimate question because I have legitimate intentions. I decided to go more in depth on the post too as I truly wonder. As my methods of looking could be incorrect as opposed to others. I also have not been on this forum in months.
I do not care about it financially. I am wondering if it is worth as in is it still possible to develop a small community.

Somewhat. More and more of the "OGs" are quitting yes. You have to consider the fact the game is almost a decade old - any game gets boring when played for a decade. There are new people joining the community too , but think about it this way:

If this question has to be asked, then the answer is at least "somewhat" .

I did take that into consideration, that is why I asked this question in the first place. And why I argued against some people. I was wondering if the new generation is still there. It's like world of warcraft- insanely old game, a lot of people have quit, however some og players are still playing and the game is still very popular along with new people joining it every day.

Depends on what you think successful means. It all really depends on what you are aiming to accomplish.
Getting players / advertising isn't the hard part. If you already have a lot of the resources and skills to make a server (aka Graphics, Development, Configs, DOING YOUTUBE), you can do it without spending $2k+

Some sites keep track of how many players are online multiplayer servers.
Example: https://minecraft-statistic.net/en/global_statistic.html
Based on this, there are about 200k+ players simultaneously on multiplayer servers (and that's only about 10000 servers)
As long as a server advertises on multiple websites, has a quality server that people today would enjoy, update your posts to make the server look alive, I don't see why it would be difficult to host a server and make a good, small community with a low budget.
Now, this isn't counting the fact that people like different game modes and people will most likely join servers with bigger communities, and that old "OG's" have mostly quit the game.
I'm just saying that Minecraft is still breathing, with 200k+ players on multiplayer concurrently on average, and it's still possible to thrive and make a community.
