We shouldn't be required to save our PMS and take backups because it isn't hard for MCM to make sure they're not all removed..

Your not however things happens and you cannot relies 100% data storing in a SINGLE location at the end of the day. Important data should be stored at least in one more location than the main host no matter if we are talking about this or if your at a web/Minecraft hosting provider. This should be an interest as a extra security mean for your business. Pay a few dollars a year (or even at least loading data on your PC is better than NO backup means) would save you from "pulling hairs" frustrations at the end of the day.

Because so many rely on these forums to generate income, perhaps someone should actually be held accountable? If it was an admin's error, maybe they should step down or be reprimanded. I can tell this is a pretty big deal to some of these people. If this is just swept under the rug like so many other issues, I'm sure people are just going to have even more reasons to doubt the staff.

Holy fuck, I've been patient for a long time with the staff team, during the great Chat Mod drama, I was quiet, during the random demotions, I was quiet, because I understand, not everyone is perfect. But am I asking for a lot when I say don't delete my pms? Like shit, I had done multiple deals with some pretty low rep users, and in case of a chargeback/ a TID what the fuck can I do?

I guarantee the staff team will just treat this as another mistake and just be like "oops sry guys lmao" but honestly it's fucking annoying what happened. I can easily be scammed now because of this, and I'll have no evidence to back myself up.

Isn't "srry ay lmao" pretty much what they said about this. Other than it won't happen again xD?

It's not hard at all to record a video of a Skype convo to avoid "fake proof."

If you all honestly are sitting here like "what, uh, uh, OMFG I HAD IMPORTANT STUFF THERE" and didn't realize the redundancy of data on MC-M, which is not a site with several NAS servers hosting redundant data, isn't as good as Skype or anything else, and you still complain, come to real life a bit.

You complain about MC-M not being professional, but if you keep what you call "important" records on the PMs of a random forums, you need to grow up and understand what you're doing wrong.

You must be new to computers. That too is extremely easy to fake. Literally takes very minimal effort. Hard to take this site's scam prevention serious so long as they allow outside methods of dealing. If they really wanted to legitimize MCM they would require all deals to happen only via MCM communication.

If we're expected to not do deals on here since it's unreliable here then there's no reason for them to encourage it.

You must be new to the internet, because it's not as easy to fake as inspect element, lol. First of all, I don't want staff reading my PMs and since they have a policy of not doing that, it's a he said, she said argument when it comes to a scam report. There currently is NO WAY to do a safe online transaction with anyone other than a legally registered company.

The point is, if you're keeping important information on your private messages of a small-medium sized forums, you clearly need to rethink how you do business because that's simply you're own fault.

For example, if you are a landlord and you take a client to small claims, you wouldn't expect the court to have photos and records stored in their file cabinets needed to pursue eviction and reimbursement for failed payments and damages, you would provide them yourself.

...What? Just because it's not easy to fake as inspect element doesn't mean it's not still extremely easy to fake...
"There currently is NO WAY to do a safe online transaction with anyone other than a legally registered company." Ever heard of highly-trusted MM that deals in $xxxx so there's little risk in scams?
"The point is, if you're keeping important information on your private messages of a small-medium sized forums, you clearly need to rethink how you do business because that's simply you're own fault." Most transactions are below $50 here, so there's not really much "important information" kept on PM, just records and logs of transaction history. If you did 20x of $50 transactions, that'd be a problem because every last one of them is liable to a chargeback or scam report.
Are you stupid?
legally registered company.

Please feel free to actually read the context of a post before making comments about it.

You should keep records and logs on REDUNDANT STORAGE if it's important. It's not about "omfg mcm you faggots omfg you lost my data wtf do something wtf" it's about the fact if you're so ignorant that you don't know important data should be redundantly stored, then you should just stop trying to run a business.

Sure, we'll say that you're correct here. We should have kept some sort of logs, but because 90% of people on here don't, I think you can understand the issue? Nobody thinks to keep logs like that of their mcm convoes because we never thought the staff team would fuck up that bad, and because they fucked up, there's now a high risk of people getting scammed and not being able to do anything about it.

It's easy to say "yea, you should have done this" and reverse the blame on people, but if they didn't delete the data, none of this would have happened.

If someone didn't keep backups, it's not just the Administration's fault. Also, lets stop labeling staff like they could help it. It was most likely a backend issue, with a small chance of it being something that happened from a panel. I'm just going to assume Chat Mods, Scam Staff, and Mods have neither Admin Panel control nor backend access.

It is a shared issue, you are correct, both parties are somewhat at fault here. We should probably wait until a statement is made about it and what exactly happened.
