I've made this suggestion over a year ago, and Mick said he will do something fast forward 8760 hours later

Warnings that expire will only contribute to further break rules, the threshold is over 100 so you should be good with such small warnings. Furthermore, about the "imprinting" part, no one else can see your warnings but yourself.
bro u do realize that i made a mistake literally over a year ago and i still have HALF of my warning points rooting just from that rule. im not saying this in a market place point of view, but as a forums, that was a slip up. and i have the fear if i slip up again i shall be banned. you haven't experienced it cause you're not borderline banned like literally every other person who signed up ages ago

I actually have a fair bunch of warning points myself, as long as you're not breaking rules you should be fine. If the warning points expired it would only make you careless and incline you to break rules again.

this is the equivalent of a kid in freshman year getting a shit ton of suspensions and crimes broken and becomes a changed man as a senior. thats why the government tends to pardon u off alot of shit u did when you were a kid, so u dont get ASS fucked for what u did when you were foolish.

If u think i knew i couldnt say a REALLY commonly said competitors name i would? use your head[DOUBLEPOST=1554026662][/DOUBLEPOST]

It's solely your fault for not knowing the rules, just accept things how they are, if anything would've changed it would already be done. Don't break rules and you'll be fine, nothing more nothing less.

I’ve found that the closer you are to being banned, the more rule abiding and less toxic the user gets as they become more aware of our policies. Is that not a benefit to the whole community in the end?

I agree that some warnings should be expirable to balance the system, however, some offences should remain permanent as they are unacceptable. Innocent mistakes may be pardoned with a expirable warning, but some things, such as disrespecting another user which was done out of your own immoral choice, should not ever be pardoned.

Although, one could say simplest solution to this problem is to not break the rules.

I got 3 warnings all because my cousin created an account and posted stuff while he was in the same house as me :/

I smell bullshit, you don't get warning points because someone with the same internet connection breaks rules. Warnings are given out to the actual offender, not to other random users.

Doesn't work like that, warnings are given to the account that broke the rule, not to an account that just has a similar IP. Even if it was your "cousin", IP's can't be the "same".

Make small warnings expire after 6 months and big warnings for more important rules remain. Will be better.

I think that some warnings (mainly small little mistakes made) should eventually be automatically removed in around half a year to a year. Some of the more impactful warnings a user might get should remain permanently as a reminder to not break the rules. At the end of the day you have to remember that if you don’t break the rules you don’t have to worry about getting a warning. Is it really that hard to follow them?

imagine this
everyone says a competitors name occasionally
no warning
i say it once
i get warning
when the whole community drives you into the view of something being allowed, it tends to happen often till its taken lightly except for some prick that doesnt like you and ends up reporting you.
Look at :
Asking for vouch copies
Thrashing
both happen so common that staff dont give a care in the world to it.
I dont think you see it as a seller either based on the fact that you have 2 reputation over 4 years. happy mc-m anniversary i guess.

I think in a since alot of staff are getting lazy to put in a normality of people breaking rules at this point, look at :
appraisals threads
og threads (semi/normal)
etc.
staff has simply gotten lazy, i'll be explaining this later today but its my birthday and i unfortunately have 0 time for another rant right now.

for me, this has created a sense of normality for disrespect.
Look at any thread created by a new user who has simply has the intentions of selling their account (lets say it isnt og and they think it is).
Instead of going to help that person, a very large part of the community will tell said person to fuck off, i've been observing how that shit has been going on for the past month with those types of threads, and i think theres either:
a. too much reports coming in
b. staff being lazy alot.
i'm open to options of belief on this, and right now i personally believe its a mix of one and two for different reasons. I do like how you're open minded to innocent mistaking, so perhaps a tendency of warning someone once with expiring timer, then after 2-3rd times, maybe not.
thanks

New suggestion: Read the rules and you don't get warning points, its honestly not hard.
The time it took you to make this, you could have been reading the rules and working to adjust your behavior.
Instead you post here ranting how you can't be a good member in this community.facepalmfacepalmfacepalm

Since you've decided to bring up my time and what I've done with it, let's look at your's shall we? In the span of two years you have amounted nearly enough warning points to receive a ban because you choose to break the rules and now you make a suggestion to essentially vindicate yourself from your previous faults. On top of that in the span of the 4 years I have been here I have only received one warning and I could honestly care less that I have it. I broke the rules and guess what now my actions are posted as a constant reminder. On top of that the reason I only have two reputation is because I stopped using the site when the reputation system was implemented. Before there was a system, you had to do deals without having a system telling users you were reputable. I conducted dozens upon dozens of deals prior to the new system being in place. But hey, you weren't even around in those days so you have no idea what you're even talking about right? Ignorance is bliss :)
