So this is getting out hand, been like this for 6 months, no thing is getting catched up, and since M6 resigned, It's pretty impossible to catch up right now, so I think all scam reports should be public [including new ones made] I know a lot of site that has their scam reports public and there are no problems.

TLDR: Just make current and new scam reports public.

If you disagree state why.

Disagree
People can give out sensible/private information in scam reports which they don't want the entire site to see (e.x addresses, etc.)
That's public info + Those info will be out after 3 months when the mod approves it lol.

I've been using marketplace forums since 2014. I was very surprised when I first found out that scam reports weren't public by default. I guess it didn't really used to matter that much because they would be set to public by staff in a small amount of time. Now that scam reports are remaining hidden for large periods of time, it's opening HUGE opportunities for scammers to continue scamming. They should be public. You should be able to search someones name on MCM and view their open scam reports (just like on every other marketplace forum).

I agree that they should be public. It allows the community to be aware of the current situation and see if it is a miss understanding or not. There is literally a disclaimer not to put personal info. Blur it out.

I highly disagree,
  • Scam reports should remain private until an authorized personnel can find solid ground for it. (Works like that IRL aswell)
  • People will abuse the system
  • Security risks (Addresses etc that not meant to be public)
  • Nobody should be accused without solid proof
  • Everybody is innocent until proven guilty
  • rule of law should prevail.
Justis is working extremely hard and overtime with no assistance on multiple reports my suggestion instead would be recommend which steps should be taken to improve the process rather than breaking it down.

Hiding this information allows people to keep scamming. This is why every other marketplace forum (ones much more successful than MCM), have this information public.

Lol, having a scam report on someone doesn't mean he's guilty and its not like Justis only accepts the guilty reports and pretty sure if there is a scam report it means there is a proof
The only downside is people can make troll threads but hey that happens in the whole forums you just have to report it

But Why?
  • People will abuse the system
If you abuse, then you are getting warned, simple as that, that's why rules are made. [I haven't seen anyone abusing the system in other forums]

I don't see how is this related to this suggestion.

I don't see Justis R approving 200+ scam reports, more scam reports will be added, it would be unrealistic for one person to approve all of these scam reports.

Thanks for saying why you disagreed though.

The good about this that it will make it more harder for scammers to exit scam and it will be more like a warning for people to not deal with a certain user because he has more than 1 report on him

I don't think either of you quite understand my points.

1. People dox its minecraft
2. Accusing people without sufficient proof results in unwanted conflict
3. There is a set of procedures set in motion to limit such unwanted activities

But Why?

If you abuse, then you are getting warned, simple as that, that's why rules are made. [I haven't seen anyone abusing the system in other forums]

Pleasure.

1. Ones address is not public information, nobody on a minecraft related forum should know where you or your family stay.
2. Yes, having that one user make 20-30 false scam reports in one day would be amazing with the current staff being sooo active.
3. People provide information thats not relevant or true which can be sorted out.
4. Many scam reports is resolved in private by the SR via DM.

there is absolutely no need to be sarcastic or toxic about people disagreeing and providing their opinion on the matter.[DOUBLEPOST=1529771385][/DOUBLEPOST]

I've mentioned before that there should be a system in place to notify users of pending/open scam reports against other users. Such as a warning message or an icon near their name. I kind of agree with how you want all scam reports public but I'm just looking at the bigger picture from my point of view.

1. If people can view scam reports (before 2-3 months after they were made) they will be less likely to be scammed.

Accusing people without sufficient proof is fine. People viewing the scam reports can make their own educated conclusions and then take action (like using a middleman when dealing with the user or not dealing with them).

I've opened scam reports on people that have then scammed others weeks/months after I made the report. It's very easy to understand how seeing scam reports made against people would help people.

Your address is public info in the internet, so If I know your name I can pretty much get your address from any site lol.
2. Yes, having that one user make 20-30 false scam reports in one day would be amazing with the current staff being sooo active.
No user will do that lol, he knows he will be banned, no reason to do it.
4. Many scam reports is resolved in private by the SR via DM.
and do you think I care about that? You are still providing stuff which aren't related to this suggestion lol.
3. People provide information thats not relevant or true which can be sorted out.
I still don't get what you mean lol

Haven't been sarcastic nor toxic, not sure how you understood my messages, but that's your problem not mine, I was being serious.

1.18 Do not share personal information.
1.18.1 Do not share personal information of another member or person on site.
1.18.2 Do not share personal information of a member of our site off site.
Regardless if you can find it from other places; it should not be found on this site.

I still don't get what you mean lol
Have you seen some of the content some people post? Thats not relevant or degrading against other users.

No user will do that lol, he knows he will be banned, no reason to do it.
.... Not even going to comment on this as you can see how many times this happens on MC-M
and do you think I care about that? You are still providing stuff which aren't related to this suggestion lol.
Its directly related to why SCAM REPORTS SHOULD NOT BE PUBLIC

Haven't been sarcastic nor toxic, not sure how you understood my messages, but that's your problem not mine, I was being serious.
My apologies then.

Regardless not going to waste my time to argue with someone that does not share my opinions. I respect that you have yours and I can somewhat as mentioned above agree with them, just a system needs to be in place where this information can be viewed without providing sensitive information
Which is my point exactly.

Maybe have secondary staff monitor scam reports and allowing some through that does not break the rules or edit them to fit accordingly those kinds of things.

I've been against this for a long time but it's just getting out of hand. I've had a report opened and deleted multiple times since FEBRUARY and it's still not dealt with. While the user no longer uses the site, it's still EXTREMELY frustrating. I'm going to have to agree with this now considering I need to open a THIRD scam report that I don't want to wait until 2019 to have dealt with.

I feel that instead of scam reports being public, those that have contacted the scammers (those being lodged a scam report against) should be alerted so that they will make sure not to make any deals until the scam report has been closes

Regardless, I don't want that information shared with a staff member here.
