So at the moment you can't buy or sell cape codes (yeah I just saw that suggestion). That just triggers me even more. Why, exactly, are we not allowed to buy and sell cape codes? Why can't premium or supreme members do it or something like that. Thats just stupid, because a lot of us want cape codes or are planning to buy them and with MCM making that rule it makes us go out of our way to find somebody instead of just saying "Hey looking to pre-order a cape code hit me up!!" In SB. If we can't sell cape codes why can we sell cape accounts? In fact cape codes have less of a scam rate than cape accounts and og accounts if you know how to use them because you can just put them on the account you want and then pay and the person will have no way of taking it back, so if you are dealing with a sketchy person just make them go first and you will be fine. Idk though what are your thoughts mcm?

Here's my idea:

The system validates the code and posts the thread.

Upon purchase, the interested user simply presses "Validate" on the thread (rate limit on this) and the system says if the code is valid or not before proceeding with the sale.[DOUBLEPOST=1473087649][/DOUBLEPOST]Lyphiard you should agree because I'm making more work for you ;)
does that mean bebosny can take the cape url

They were removed due to the copious amount of scammers joining and claiming they have cape codes.

Here's how I can see this working:

1. Subforum under "Minecraft Accounts" - "Cape Codes"
2. Posting requirements are Premium along with certain account age.
3. The form would be something like:
"Cape Type"
"Proof of ownership" (email, minecon attendance pics etc)
"Description"

Also, the best way to safely deal is for the buyer to state the username and provide the account details and the seller to redeem it and record the process.
Definitely would work well in the area of avoiding scams but I'd rather not trust someone with my account details due to it not requiring security questions prior to logging in on the launcher and that person using your account for malicious intent somewhere else while they have access to it from the credentials provided (Feel free to correct me if I misinterpreted that by a long shot). Other then what I mentioned (which if you deal with the right people it won't be an issue to begin with) I can see that as a good method for preventing some of the usual scams and been something ideal for those wanting to sell multiple codes obtained from Minecon or the many wanting to gain a code from not been able to attend. Hopefully this does become a thing.

(Stating this not because of reclaiming the account as most of the time, that's all fine just that some servers will not accept the answer of a hacked/compromised account (even if the IP information from the account's login history proves your innocence) for a reason to be unbanned or those who are managers/owners/staff on a server like me with permissions to a certain server which if used, will cause a lot more damage/issues due to what they have access to. Mainly saying this as I'd prefer to have a Minecon cape on an account I actually play on but due to the account having permissions and ranks I'd never give anyone access to it, if it was for an alt with no perms/ranks alongside the TID for reclaiming, I'd be all for letting a trusted user do the method stated if I haven't misinterpreted what you stated.)

This is off topic af, but what exactly did he do? Like, I'm aware that he exit scammed, but on what item(s) of what value(s)?

I completely agree with this. The most welcome feature is the code authentication. This has been the #1 problem I've experienced with purchasing codes: They just aren't valid. Knowing if the code is actually unused makes this system much more appealing than any other option on this thread.
However, there's a bigger issue that no one has brought up yet: The seller can authenticate his code, and then go use it or sell it elsewhere before it sells on MCM. Then the buyer pays for what he believes is a fresh code, and gets a used code. Meaning the buyer is out anywhere from $200-$1K. Sure, the seller will get a ban, but who honestly gives af? Buyer's still out of his hard earned cash.

I don't wanna make too big a deal of this though, cause it can simply be fixed by re-authenticating directly prior to purchase.[DOUBLEPOST=1473830170][/DOUBLEPOST]
Like 5 postive rep, at least 3-5 months on the forum (since cape codes generally sell for $200+ it may have to be bigger than the investment section). I know a lot of us don't have much rep even though we are very reputable, so maybe we could base it off something else
also 300-500 posts minimum because then it wouldn't be a bunch of members that wait for 5 months and have like 3 posts and aren't involved in the community at all
Or possibly in the form users can set their own requirements for buying their particular code? I'd like that better honestly
This is another, smaller problem: trust. But I honestly think that BuildingBases has this nailed. It's just a matter of hammering out some decent requirements. However, I do agree with Devon that the seller or buyer (in a WTB thread) should have the option of setting his own requirements. I say this cause back when I was looking for a 2012 (never found one), most potential sellers weren't very reputable. For me, this was a red flag that they were probably scamming, but with the authentication idea, we won't have to worry about that.[DOUBLEPOST=1473830375][/DOUBLEPOST]

Not trying to be rude, but did you read Ninja's idea? I'm just asking because you didn't mention anything about it your post. Any opinions on it?

Maybe an auto system? So as stated before in the thread a validation system maybe for premium and supreme members to sell codes. So basically what I'm saying is the seller puts the code into the system and the system validates it and then a buyer can come around and see the code in the forum and just click purchase. Once it's purchased then you get the code and can put it in your account. Maybe paypal only and in usd?

I think a lot of people here would be against doing the actual transaction through MCM itself. They prefer direct buyer-seller transactions. Personally, I think an automated transaction makes a lot of sense, just like you'd do through something like Ebay.

I haven't got one disagreement to this, I'm going to contact BeBosny in a day or two and see what he has to think about it.
Yeah, please do. I hope to see it implemented, hopefully before the price on 2016 capes skyrockets.
I don't even need this anymore as I purchased a 2015 code for $175 recently, but yeah this would be a huge help.
Where tf did you find a 2015 for $175?! I haven't seen one for under $300 in the last six months!
