Hello MC-Market

I recently had an idea to stop repetitive scamming, this idea came to me when a friend of mine was the victim of repeat scamming.

I think that scam reports should have a "ticket" style report system, where you enter the MC-Market username of the person, and fill in all the boxes - then a staff member / scam resolver is informed of the thread.

Now, I think that when this report is made, the person who is being reported should get a tag next to their name (approved by the scam moderator, e.g. by clicking a button or something), something like "Report open", but sum that up in one word - obviously.

The user should only get the scam report if the proof shows that the person could have scammed - and therefore is "dangerous".

http://www.mc-market.org/threads/72521/

Bold has been online and not replied, this would also make people reply to their scam reports to get the badge off of their profile.

M6 didn't take kindly to my idea.

I hope you do <3.

What is this you saying? Comparing ordinary life to internet? And not always you get scammed because you are missing brain cells, although most of the time you do. For example I got scammed from a server owner that I worked for, he sold the server, didn't pay me for my work and basically told me to fuck off, I didn't expect such action from a guy I worked for a good amount of time.

And this scam reports thing is great, new people to mc-market before dealing with someone can check whether he is trustworthy. Although most of the trust lies on the rating and positive feed-back, guy may still try to scam extra money, fees and even delay the deal for a good amount of time. Since we have the scam reports section, thank fully this gets sorted pretty fast.
Looks like we've agreed on the fact that not all people are scammed due to stupidity, but most are.

I'm not against a feedback system, in fact, I've suggested it and fully support a trader feedback system combined with a real marketplace system.

I'm against a bunch of kids taking the jobs of law enforcement. If you're scammed, contact law enforcement and if they won't do anything, then it's probably not a scam.

In your case, the owner either should've paid you, and if you did it for free then he still owns the right to sell the server. He's the owner. If you work, ask for pay first. If you want to help out voluntarily, don't be upset if he sells the server. That's his server, right? But you're also able to charge him for your work. So it's not really a scam that he sold his own server.

If you only searched this thread properly instead of jumping down the throat of anyone that says anything? I was just illustrating the bloody point made by the OP in a quick sentence. yet you choose to jump down my throat of all people? did you even bother reading the rest of this post?

I feel like you're just practicing to wipe out the local school bully by commenting in these threads with insults. definitely feels like it.
Your first paragraph makes no sense.

As for the second, I'm past school buddy and I never had a problem with "bullies", whatever you kids define that as nowadays.

Hello MC-Market

I recently had an idea to stop repetitive scamming, this idea came to me when a friend of mine was the victim of repeat scamming (due to M6 being very slow with responses, f*ck you M6).

I think that scam reports should have a "ticket" style report system, where you enter the MC-Market username of the person, and fill in all the boxes - then a staff member / scam resolver is informed of the thread.

Now, I think that when this report is made, the person who is being reported should get a tag next to their name, something like "this person has been reported for scamming", but sum that up in one word - obviously.

I understand this can be abused, but fake reports (which are few and far between) will be dealt with swiftly, as we have many active scam report staff to deal with them (right?).

M6 didn't take kindly to my idea.

I hope you do <3.
Not only do I take 'kindly' to your ideas, I don't take kindly to anything you have to say. But I'll keep my post flame-free and understandable for someone such as you. Just for you :)

I don't like this idea at all, you honestly think this will prevent scamming? So many ways this system may go south.
- Abuse (Getting back at another user) -> Effect: More punishments for users, more toxic and salty rivers which is not needed.
So you all decide, "let's not allow new members or low repped/low posted members post reports? Where is your common sense?
Not only "Innocent until proven guilty" but "Everyone is fair under the eyes of the law".

- Moderation Acceptance (So your also thinking, why not make us handle when it awards this medal of "Oh my gosh - You have a report posted - Don't deal with me!") This creates more work for us, finding troll reports and/or later having issues on why a report isn't accepted will create more drama.

- Money (Money does not grow on trees, the administrators have to decide upon coding a whole new system for the forums) - This is honestly a waste of cash.

- Timing (Scams happen at any time, whether the user is money hungry or whatever the reason may be) - I could scam, you could scam, at any second - any purpose - on anyone.

Sure it is, it is even when it's solved too. Learn to search. It's not the forum's job to babysit your ass and do everything for you. Do you want me to feed you your cookies too, because you can't be bothered to go to the kitchen, so apparently there's no food in the house (because you can't be bothered to go to the kitchen). Same logic.
Now the common sense behind this statement is perfect, beautiful example.

It's great till they realize the report won't be handled because you apparently think they are alt accounting.

I like the current system. Moderation Approval, just fine the way it is - just needs a few tuning up here and there but the rest is pretty nicely developed. I don't mind if you want to voice your opinion out over taking my time on any report. With the new suggestion implemented of not taking scam reports anywhere else, it will keep the forums organized and simple.

But at the end of the day,
When you realize the wrong decision has been placed. Your hands are marked over your work, so I honestly don't care what you continue with.
So my final conclusion being, we cannot make these forums 100% scam-free guaranteed - as that is not possible whatsoever. Yet, we may guarantee that we actually solve the case your posting.

That is all I would like to say, if your going to quote me being a whole negative nancy on why your best friend got scammed. Go ahead, but just realize the purpose I won't be quoting back - "I do not fight fire with fire"

Good day.

You didn't read clearly but thanks.

It's not a usable, since we have great scam staff who deal with these things and the player only gets the tag if the report is legitimate in your eyes.

I didn't read the rest because I would never get back that 2 minutes of wasted life.

the point is that you chose to attack the one sentence I said to clarify things for BeBosny, while you completely missed the fact that I both argued against this idea and made the point that most people don't seem to use common sense, and using common sense would seriously decrease scamming.
But I guess you skipped reading classes eh?

That's false. The community decides in most cases. We just throw our arguments and opinions.[DOUBLEPOST=1455019987,1455019819][/DOUBLEPOST]

Might aswell deal with the scam report in that case?

A user shouldn't be called a scammer for a scam resolver his assumptions.[DOUBLEPOST=1455020026][/DOUBLEPOST]

We're planning this.[DOUBLEPOST=1455020090][/DOUBLEPOST]

They don't actually take their jobs since they're basically unable to do that.

They just punish the user that they think is guilty to keep them off the forums.

But yeah, I get your point.

Ignore my idea - more people will just get scammed.

THE POINT OF SCAM STAFF NOT JUST LOOKING AT THE THRRAD IS THAT PEOPLE CAN REPEAT SCAM WHILST THE REPORT IS OPEN.

If the report is POSSIBLY LEGITIMATE, then they should get a warning tag.

Nothing can go wrong.[DOUBLEPOST=1455033925,1455033439][/DOUBLEPOST]People who abuse - banned. But they can't abuse since the staff have to decide if there is a possibility of the proof being legit before handing the badge.

I dunno, I feel as if you take care of problems almost subjectively. Names should definitely be censored even if you're doing this kind of a system.

I don't have anything against the people involved in the system (except Anthony R, he was an idiot) - I don't like the system itself.

You're not actually taking their jobs but it's as if you're replacing what is their job. It's like setting up a little religious court to sentence rapists - that's the PD's job.[DOUBLEPOST=1455038242,1455038169][/DOUBLEPOST]

I'm going to post a report against you now, you stole whatever hope I had of humanity not being retarded.

Legitimate scam report, you really did [steal my hopes of humanity not being retarded].

Enjoy the warning tag. I hope nobody trades with you :)

This is something that I agree with definitely. If things were approached differently from the start, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion right now.

Definitely.

Unfortunately, as with everything in the world, it's harder to reverse a mess when it's already happened. It's harder to fix this thing now, not impossible though. It'll just take work.

Pardon?

I'm not sure if you're trying to insult me - what is your point?

If the scam report is not a fake, and is deemed to be reasonably believable - then the person should get the Warning tag - this should not happen automatically.

I don't see what your problem is, if the scam report is false, which they normally aren't, then people will still trade with you, or if you did try something fishy people will be aware.

I hope you get my point..

My excuse, I read the comments.
The tag only gets placed if a staff / scam staff member deems the report as possibly legitimate e.g. there is a chance that the person has actually scammed.

Originally I didn't think of this but from community ideas it evolved.

The cons were explained above. I'm not going to repeat myself. The main reason is that people would be tagged as "Potential scammer" while they might not be one at all.

Most of them are.

But I understand, you don't care because it's not your money, that's 100% fine with me.
