How many hours I could dedicate: I could manage to be on the discord pretty much all day, I got to sleep at 11 pm / 12 am. I have online school 8:50 - 15:35, however, I am available to be online during this time as I don't always have something to do. Generally, my weekends are wide open, so as a rough figure I could be on Minecraft 50 hours and discord all the time.
How long have I played Minecraft?: I started Minecraft on the Xbox in about 2012 and I bought it for PC in 2014. As you can imagine I have a lot of experience with various gamemodes and mechanics. My favourite modes to play are Creative, SkyBlock, Factions, Prison, and Survival. I am not as big on the Mini Game aspect (servers such as hypixel)
Previous punishments: As I'm sure everyone has, I have had my brush with the "law" so to speak. I have never been banned from a server, however in years gone by I have been muted due to immaturity, however, that was the past, this is the past and this is the present. It provided me with experience of punishments, durations, and forms.
Previous experience: I have had a decent amount of experience in moderation and senior roles.
- I was SrMod on a SkyBlock server where I had to train and lead the other moderators, making sure everyone was doing their job to the best of their ability and that everyone was in line.
- I was a manager on another SkyBlock server. I was community manager meaning I had to organise giveaways and be a prominent figure in the community. I also created the Staff Handbook, Staff Strikes, and Island Strikes documents. This illustrates the fact that I am competent at both contributing to management and the server resources.
- I was Admin on a survival server. My main role was chat moderation and doing odds and ends around the server. I was also in charge of the Helpers and Moderators, making sure all the staff was in line.
- I have also trained staff on an RPG / survival server, the principal method I used was to fire scenarios at them. I also tested their reflexes by being unpredictable and snapping at them in the training, to test how thick-skinned and quick thinking they were. I found this to be very successful.
- I have been a Helper and Moderator on numerous other servers however it is irrelevant since my application post here is for a higher-up position. Just know that I have had a lot of experience.
Reall-life experience of leadership:
I have not just been a leader on Minecraft. I have got proper experience of it too.
- I have lead lessons for anti-bullying, these were hour-long sessions for 12-13, year-old children. I had to prepare resources for the lessons and help my group with delivering them. I had to go to a 2-day training course for this. If you would like more information on it I would be happy to expand.
- I did work experience as a music teacher, where I helped prepare resources and deliver lessons to classes ranging from 12-18 year olds.
- I did an internship for a language company, "Language Learning Scotland." I created study resources, such as for example reading, writing and listening papers. They were all in Spanish. I was written a reference and can produce it on request. I can also produce some of my work for you too.
Interests outside of Minecraft: I have numerous different interests outside of Minecraft, I thought I would list a few so you could get to know me better:
- Fishing: I love to go fly fishing and the biggest fish I have caught was a 10lb rainbow trout. I love the relaxing element of it and also the intricacy and art of it.
- Music: I played in 5 different bands. However, coronavirus has disallowed any bands to meet. I play the trumpet/cornet/soprano cornet and it has taken me to many concerts within my home country and as far as Poland. I was scheduled to go to Germany for a tour however it was cancelled under the circumstances.
- Languages: I love to watch TV shows and listen to music in foreign languages. I love communicating with foreign people and learning about the history and culture of their country.
Qualities:
- I am an avid language learner. I am studying both French and Spanish (in conjunction with my native language, English). I also know a few phrases in German and Italian (I play on a modded Italian server, it has let me understand some phrases).
- I am very levelheaded, I will be able to see an argument from both sides. I can defuse a situation calmly and confidently.
- I am a natural-born leader. I am able to lead a team and to train people, creating a friendly and professional environment.
- I am a quick learner and given the proper tools and resources I can get to grips with any new method very quickly.
- I have played a lot of factions in my time, meaning I have developed quite a thick skin to the majority of toxicity and threats.
- I am very good at communicating with people (as you would guess with my language skills) therefore I would be perfect for making announcements and liaising with the members of your server.
Weaknesses:
- I generally speak my mind. I have been picked up on this once before. I do not insult anyone, this was speaking directly to the Owner. I call it as I see it, and I am not dedicating time to something which could in turn be fruitless.
- I haven't had the time to make a new CV/resume, so this application will have to suffice.
School:
I am still in fulltime education, therefore I am studying 7 subjects at school. I am doing them all for a Higher qualification (for more information research SQA.)
Subjects: Maths, English, French, Spanish, Music, Chemistry, and History
Availability to call: I can call, however not after 9:30 pm GMT as I live with my parents and they have an early bedtime. But yes, I have discord and a working mic.
Screen recording: I can screen record, I have OBS set up meaning I can provide proof of any hackers.
