Ok, here's my thoughts on your thoughts eh?
2. I read a lot of economic books, and although a higher minimum wage sounds good, here's why it's not. Let's say that company X has 10 employees that it pays $10 an hour. Okay? That's $100 total that they can afford to spend on wages.
Say they work 40 hours per week at $9 an hour, that's $360/week. To fill the average refrigerator (a metaphor) it takes about $125/week. Rent is about $150/week. Insurance $100/week. And that's all they can spend it on (basics). If their car breaks down, nope, if they want tv/phone nope, and if they have crap insurance (at $100/week it is crap) and they need to go to the hospital nope, can't pay for it!!!
At $16 40 hours/week that's $640 and that gives some cushion for luxurys like internet and phones. And they still have enough to pay off things like medical bills etc.

It doesn't matter that your prices are way off, but here's the issue with that.

You're treating luxuries like housing and insurance and cars, etc like RIGHTS. Just because someone can't afford to buy something, doesn't mean we should pay them more!

Companies can't afford to pay them more, and if you take the time to read what i said, (or don't), you would now understand why more money for some means less for others.

Im sure if Trump has his self-proclaimed $8bil in the bank he can pay his house cleaners a little more.

My point was that just THOSE 3 things you can't pay off at $9 an hour.
So? It's not our fault that they can't get a job better than mcdonalds...

Mcdonalds, I swear to you this, if they are forced to pay $16 an hour to their employees, double what they pay now, they will immediately start cutting jobs and laying people off. They can't afford to pay that much! Why not just invest in technology to do those jobs for cheaper?[DOUBLEPOST=1443237926,1443237861][/DOUBLEPOST]
Im sure if Trump has his self-proclaimed $8bil in the bank he can pay his house cleaners a little more.
But he won't because they are either Black or Spanish
But he won't because that's the thing about a free market.

PRICES dictate the market, not generosity.

Trump pays the price that those employees are willing to work for. Why would he pay them more when he doesn't need to? That's not how a market works!

If housekeepers decided one day to raise their prices, i agree that trump would pay them, because he can afford them. (Provided nobody else was cheaper)

But what about the people that could hardly afford it before? Now the housekeepers have lost a client![DOUBLEPOST=1443238078,1443238040][/DOUBLEPOST]

If you hadn't noticed, we're trying to have an intelligent convo on this thread... I'm down for this shit somewhere else, but I enjoy these well structured sentences sometimes. :p

If a house cleaner tried to significantly increase their pay, he could just fire them and hire one of the many people who would be glad to do it at minimum wage.
I had a parenthesis that noted that fact, saying that scenario would only occur if there were no other cheaper alternatives.[DOUBLEPOST=1443238304,1443238269][/DOUBLEPOST]
When DTRUMP sasid he's going to run for president, I took it as a joke

now look where we are
If you followed the news, you wouldn't have taken it as a joke. He's been contemplating a run for over a decade.
