I have a very strong opinion on this controversial issue so let me give you my input.

Trump is not fit to be the president for the United States. He does not explain any of his policies and completely avoids the questions he is asked. The sole reason he gains popularity is because of his humor. As an actor, he can perform well on television, making him a candidate similar to Ronald Reagan, in the sense that he gains support from how well he displays himself live to the people. But in reality, he is just a very immature individual whose plans are incomplete, impossible, and not helpful (like the wall and his plan to deport 11 million people).

In all honesty, none of the republicans except maybe Rand Paul focused on the real issues occurring in the United States. Carly has a terrible track record and wants to increase military spending even though we are already one of the most powerful nations and with the help from our 23 allies, we could stop any nation threatening safety. Ben Carson does not advocate that a Muslim president should run this country, showing complete ignorance toward the individual's qualifications. I quote, "if the faith is inconsistent with the Constitution, I do not believe the individual of that faith should run the country." In the constitution there is no religious test. Yet, I see many republicans try to pass laws that solely concern their faith (predominantly Christianity).

Jeb Bush claims his brother kept Americans safe but 9/11 happened under his watch (personally, I believe it was an inside job conducted by Bush in order to pass the Patriot Act and wage war on Iraq) where 3000 people died. Kept it safe? It wasn't nearly as safe. Because of this attack, people became too nationalistic in a sense where they targeted Americans or immigrants with a different ethnicity specifically Muslims and Sikhs - who are of no connection to terrorism with riots, violence, and discrimination. Maybe it was safe for the nationalistic Caucasian Americans, but for the immigrants who had dreams of attaining prosperity in the promised lands of America, it became very difficult for them to prosper after 9/11 which happened under Bush's administration.

Many other republicans want to spend more money on military expansion to fight ISIS but the opportunity cost is not worth it. The United States is already extremely in debt and already well built in terms of military power. Spending more on the military will only increase taxes on the people for unnecessary involvement in foreign issues. The president should be focusing on lowering the national debt, not raising it.

The only candidate I believe is fit to run this country is Bernie Sanders. Now I know I will get comments like, "you're a socialist wow" but if you really take a look at Bernie's policies, he's not entirely socialist, he's democratically socialist. There won't be a complete equal distribution of wealth between all people but rather he will attempt to lessen the large gap that exists. He's targeting economic issues, civil rights issues (police brutality), health care (health care is something every citizen should be exposed to; the health of people shouldn't be established by the amount of one's wealth), and education. He is the only individual who is truly attacking the DOMESTIC issues of the United States, unlike republican candidates who are more concerned with foreign policies and terrorism.

I will say that I disagree with the $15 minimum wage proposed by Bernie Sanders as it will destroy small businesses, or cause small businesses to fire employees to prevent bankruptcy. Loss of employees will raise unemployment so an immediate establishment of a $15 wage would be deadly. Instead, it should be a gradual increase, maybe starting at $9 or $10 and peaking at $13. The wage should be in proportion of the economy, is essentially what I'm saying. But yeah, name me a socialist but England and Canada are technically partially socialist as well and they are better off economically-wise.

If you read this far, thanks for reading, because it voices most of my opinions of this whole political issue that is arising for this next election, and I really wanted to share.

Ok, here's my thoughts on your thoughts eh?

1. Cut spending back! I like that, we do need to get out of debt after all. So there we would cut out about 200 billion. FYI the debt is 18 Trillion, meaning it would take about 100 years for us to make back our money, not to mention the fact that we would still be losing more money than we saved from the 200 billion.
2. I read a lot of economic books, and although a higher minimum wage sounds good, here's why it's not. Let's say that company X has 10 employees that it pays $10 an hour. Okay? That's $100 total that they can afford to spend on wages. Then the government says that they need to be paying each employee $16 an hour, as you suggest should happen. That means that they can only afford to have 6 employees or so. So that means that 4 people lost their job, but 6 other people got a raise. You decide, is that good or bad? Not to mention that having to spend more money on unskilled labor would only be MORE incentive to have those jobs automated with computers, etc.
3. What moolah? As mentioned before, even after cutting the military budget 200 billion, we are still losing money at an alarming rate. What else do we cut? What do we sacrifice for education? That's a tough question, and i'm sure we all value education highly.
4. Why not just make everyone pay the same percent? A fair tax would eliminate loopholes. For Example: A poor man makes $10 an hour, and must pay 50% in tax. ($5), while a rich man makes a billion dollars an hour (hypothetical obviously), and must pay 500 million an hour! The rich man pays more of course, but it's still fair, and everyone is in the same position.
5. Fair enough if you want to end lobbying, I can get with that. But the problem with ENDING citizens united is that it's not a government organization. It's privately owned. You could always limit their ability to fund political advertisements, but disbanding a company is FAR beyond the govs. power.

Couldn't of said it better myself, but you forgot a couple things ;).

6. Donald Trump plans on making it harder to acquire semi-automatic/automatic machine guns which I personally think is great.

7. Donald Trump has some great ideas on how to pay the national debt including a 14.25% tax on everyone with a net worth of 10 million or up, to pay off some of the debt. (During times of economic strength)

i think that during this whole election, people have not taken Donald Trump seriously. I know, because I haven't either. We all can see that he is not fit to run this country. A President who wants to build a wall to stop Illegal Immigration? Many people who immigrated illegally came to the US for new opportunities, not to have a wall built blocking their way. Now, other issues pertaining to his issues with supporting women are also horrible. He just doesn't know what is right for our country. Although he did propose a smart tax rate change, not much else will keep him going. Most supporters of him must be either bribed or really oblivious (My opinions).

Personally, I do not follow the Republican Debates as much as I should, but I watch them. I am technically a Democrat supporter, as I have agreed with their issues. I don't know why people call Obama a bad president. Yes, he may have made a few mistakes, but when he first became president, we were in the middle of a financial crisis here in the US. Are we in one now? I am going to say the final presidency will be between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Rand Paul or Bernie Sanders. I don't really follow all of the debates of the republicans, as I have said, so correct me if you think I am wrong.

Hillary Clinton gets a bad rep from the mistakes she has made, but her views of the country and women's rights are amazing. You all may not think this, and now I will be the only one supporting a woman president, but we've never been this close to having a woman president. She isn't going to hurt. Hillary Clinton is our best chance at president.

Im going to get hate for posting this, but I feel like I have to show my perspective. This thread has been highly Republican the whole time.

You and I are speaking the same language man. I completely agree with you. Except on minimum wage. We need to do a increase over time ($1 per year). But we should do that over the eight years Sanders is president. Making it a total of $16 an hour. Therefore companies have some cushion. But other than that, right on man![DOUBLEPOST=1443270954,1443270858][/DOUBLEPOST]

Fully agree, I hardly side with Trump on anything but economics. Not supporting him, but protecting him from ignorance.

Yes, building a large wall would stop illegal immigrants from getting in. I agree, and it's wonderful that people want to come to the US for better opportunities. But coming in ILLEGALLY and draining our finances even more? That's not a good thing my man. I have no problem at all (neither does trump), with people coming in legally and paying their taxes... as my family and I did. His supporters if anything are the farthest from oblivious, they are the ones that have taken the time to look beyond the headline, and actually see what he stands for. Also, Obama was president when the financial crisis began, and the national debt has almost doubled while he's been in office, a rate faster than Bush. He's great with social issues, but has not a clue when it comes to finances.

Are you trying to tell me that Hillary Clinton is a good advocate for women? I highly doubt that any women would be happy to say that Clinton represents them. Do i need you to remind you of that one time when her husband was getting blowjobs in the oval office, and she didn't give a fuck?

Also, let's be honest, Clinton's going to be president, i've said that from the beginning. Sanders is still a cult following, Clinton is the primary.

How would increasing it over time give anyone a cushion? Is slowly letting them bleed out better than killing them by cutting off their head? Although I do agree that this would give them more time to develop the tech. that would replace the expensive AF $16 an hour employees.

es, building a large wall would stop illegal immigrants from getting in. I agree, and it's wonderful that people want to come to the US for better opportunities. Building a large wall will be the most ineffective means of preventing immigration. Most illegals come by over staying their visa, not from crossing the border. Trump would invest too much money in an ineffective wall, which I don't agree with. Also, deporting 11 million people is a costly amount. Trump claims the illegals have taken jobs from the legals and have lowered their finances but statistics have shown that it's actually the opposite and illegals are actually not costing finances at all. So while Trump claims this, the legals are really not really damaged at all.

His supporters are oblivious. Trump makes large statements like, "Let's make America great again!" and the supporters are like "YEAH LETS DO IT! I"M ALL IN." But when he's asked specific questions on his plans and policies, he either gives an answer that is completely off-topic or summarizes his answer in one word like "management" (during interview) or "judgement" (GOP debate). He is basically trying to stir up nationalism to gain support but doesn't address the main issues of the country in detail. His supporters are basically people who are already well off on their own to even care about what happens to the country.

Are you trying to tell me that Hillary Clinton is a good advocate for women? I highly doubt that any women would be happy to say that Clinton represents them. Do i need you to remind you of that one time when her husband was getting blowjobs in the oval office, and she didn't give a fuck?

Agreed. I also do not have the likes for Clinton either. She says she supports gender equality but pays women less in her own campaign. She currently has some email thing going on which is suspicious. She doesn't really talk at all. She supports the expansion of military which is also something I disagree with. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party is still attempting to make her the primary by skipping possible debates. Although I extremely want Sanders to win, it doesn't look like that will happen unless Sanders makes a big difference in the debates and reaches out to college students for their votes. He recently passed Clinton in New Hampshire which is good, but from what it looks like, Clinton might still be the primary.

I too wanted Clinton to become president at first because I was quite fancied by the fact that we could have the first female president...until I saw her policies. Unlike her, Bernie Sanders really does attack both economic, civil, and equality issues. He's an all-in-one package who is quite the moral being.[DOUBLEPOST=1443284702,1443284450][/DOUBLEPOST]

If the economy is doing bad, yet we have a increase of $1 per year, then small businesses will still face trouble. The wage needs to be in proportion to the economy when it's either stimulated or depressed. If the economy does outstandingly well, the wage can increase a little bit but not enough to the point where if the economy were to drop again, the wage would prove to be hurtful. So the wage will need to stay in a safe zone. Not too high, not too low.
