What is NexusEvents?

NexusEvents is a fully automated tournament system built for servers that care about player retention, live engagement, and web store revenue. Forget boring chat-only events — NexusEvents brings animated boss bars, RGB gradient messaging, particle-driven effects, and twelve genuinely different game modes to your community.

It is designed to run on autopilot: schedule tournaments on a simplified Cron timetable, let players vote for what plays next or sponsor server-wide events straight from your web store, reward streaks and crown champions automatically, and keep your best players chasing titles and leaderboard NPCs.

Dependency Stack

Event Modes

A meteor sphere of configurable blocks crashes near spawn. The impact is announced ahead of time with escalating warnings, sounds, and an optional particle rain, then drops layer-by-layer with a fall animation and an optional lava ring. Mine meteor blocks and slay custom guard mobs for points. Only original meteor blocks count — no farming with placed blocks.

Hold one or more zones against everyone else. Each zone is checked every second: a single player inside scores, multiple players contest it and nobody scores. Full multi-zone support with per-zone point values; legacy single-zone configs are auto-upgraded.

A global, peaceful fishing tournament with an integrated fish-weight algorithm — bigger catches earn bonus points, and monster catches above the threshold are announced server-wide to keep chat alive.

Tiered crates (Common, Rare, Legendary) drop at random coordinates, each marked by a tier-colored particle beam. Right-click to start an unlock countdown and stay close until it finishes — walk away and you lose it. Only one player can unlock a chest at a time.

A chain of hidden chests, each revealing the hint to the next. Solo mode gives every player their own chain; global mode is a shared race where the first finder advances it for the whole server.

Timed mob waves spawn inside a configured zone. Earn points per kill, and every player still standing inside the zone when the final wave is cleared collects a survival bonus. Arena mobs carry no drops and despawn with the event.

A two-phase building contest: claim a plot and build to a theme, then the event walks everyone plot-to-plot for a 1–5 star vote via a chest GUI. Vote sum becomes the final score. Plot assignment, the voting tour, and block rollback are fully automated.

Break the snow floor under your rivals. Drop below the floor line and you're out. Direct PvP is cancelled, and broken floor blocks are restored when the round ends. Last one standing wins.

No block breaking — instead every melee hit lands a boosted knockback so players shove each other off the platform. Last one standing wins.

Free-for-all combat in a coordinate-box arena with kits, timed respawns in spectator, and boundary damage for anyone leaving the radius. Every participant's inventory and game mode are snapshotted on start and restored at the end — the event never eats gear.

Pass the burning item before the round timer runs out — hit a rival or right-click near one to shove it on. The holder glows so the whole room can see who's in danger; hold it at zero and you're eliminated to spectator. Last survivor wins, and dropping the bomb is impossible.

Questions appear in chat and the race is on: the first correct answer scores big, later correct answers score less. Ships with 24 default questions in a hot-reloadable questions.yml — add your own and reload live, no restart. Correct answers are hidden so nobody can copy.


Progression & Engagement

  • Win streaks: consecutive wins build a configurable, capped reward multiplier; milestones broadcast to the server, and a loss resets the run.
  • Player voting: open a timed vote over the top candidates so the community decides the next event with /ne vote.
  • Titles & badges: unlock titles by wins, best streak, or games played, then equip them with /ne title and display them anywhere via placeholder.
  • Spectator handling: eliminations send players to a clean spectator state and restore their game mode, location, and flight when the event ends.
  • NPC leaderboards: Citizens NPCs that show and skin-match your reigning champion per event type, refreshed automatically.


Automation & Scheduling

  • Cron timetable: schedule events with a simple "Day:Hour:Minute:EVENT" format ("*" for every day).
  • Weighted random pool: roll a weighted random event from a pool on its own interval — or open it to a player vote.
  • Blackout windows: define "HH:MM-HH:MM" ranges where no automatic event starts (midnight overflow supported).
  • Anti-overlap: a trigger that would overlap a running event is retried later instead of running concurrently.
  • Start queue: start requests for a busy event type are queued FIFO, so web store purchases are never lost.


Configuration

NexusEvents is configuration-first: one clean config.yml drives every event, with shared options (duration, per-player cooldown, min-players) and per-event sections. Save and load entire setups as presets, and reload exactly what you changed.

  • Global settings: language, debug, dry-run (test mode with no broadcasts/persistence/rewards), team provider and team-mode events.
  • Database block: type selection plus HikariCP pool tuning and MySQL credentials.
  • Scheduler block: timetable, random pool, player voting, blackout windows, anti-overlap.
  • Streaks block: multiplier-per-win, cap, and milestone announcements.
  • Titles block: define earnable titles and their unlock conditions.
  • NPC leaderboard block: Citizens champion NPCs per event type.
  • Multi-world block: group worlds into contexts with per-context event overrides (off by default).
  • Rewards block: per-rank command lists, streak placeholders, and sponsor rewards.
  • Discord block: webhook URL, start/end toggles, embed color.
  • Visuals block: MiniMessage prefix, boss bar color/style, title timings, leaderboard GUI.
  • Web store block: broadcast, purchase title/subtitle, start delay, cooldown.

Save the current event configuration to a named preset and load it back any time — five presets ship ready to use (competitive, casual, halloween, christmas, competitive_network). Reload is modular: pick config, events, lang, discord, presets, questions, titles, or worlds, so you never reload more than you changed.

/nexusevents setup <event> hands out a tagged wand for KotH, Mob Arena, and Build Battle. Left-click sets position 1, right-click sets position 2, and the zone (or plot) is written straight into the config and hot-reloaded — no manual coordinate editing.


Developer API

  • Stable facade: NexusEventsApi exposes live scores, running/paused state, time left, persistent points/wins, leaderboards, and full event control (start, stop, pause, resume, force-win).
  • EventStartEvent: cancellable — block starts during maintenance or region locks.
  • EventStopEvent: carries the final score snapshot and winner for your own reward logic.
  • EventRewardEvent: cancellable, with a mutable per-player command map — add, change, or strip rewards before dispatch.
  • PlayerScoreChangeEvent: cancellable with a mutable amount — booster plugins double it, anti-abuse plugins veto it.

FAQ

Does NexusEvents require any other plugins?
No. It runs standalone. PlaceholderAPI, Citizens, Floodgate, Tebex/CraftingStore, Towny, and SuperiorSkyblock are all optional integrations.

How many event modes are included?
Twelve fully built-in modes, each individually configurable.

Can players vote for the next event?
Yes. The random pool can open a timed vote so players choose the next event with /ne vote, instead of a purely random roll.

How do win streaks and titles work?
Consecutive wins build a capped reward multiplier you can use in reward commands, and players unlock and equip titles based on wins, best streak, or games played.

Do I need Citizens or Floodgate?
No — both are optional. Citizens unlocks champion NPC leaderboards and Floodgate adds Bedrock detection; without them those features simply switch off and everything else runs normally.

Is it Folia-ready?
Yes. Scheduling uses Folia-safe region/global/async paths, and the plugin is marked folia-supported.

Which databases are supported?
SQLite (zero setup), embedded H2, and MySQL/MariaDB for networks sharing one leaderboard. Existing databases are migrated automatically.

Can I run events automatically?
Yes. Use the Cron timetable, a weighted random pool, or both — with blackout windows and anti-overlap protection.

Can players trigger events from my web store?
Yes. The trigger command is built for Tebex/CraftingStore, with a global cooldown, a network broadcast, and automatic queueing if the event already runs.
