Im dumb founded by all these new hosts which use Discord as a billing system....

Im not actually sure where to start, so lets begin here.
- Your name, sounds an awful lot like Sparked Host DBoss
- Discord billing really? Back when I first opened in 2014 I would often see summer hosts use BoxBilling which people gave them shit for (including myself). Now I reflect on those days and actually give credit to those summer hosts who put little effort in to have a billing system. Discord is NOT meant to be used as a billing system, and if data got leaked you are opening yourself up to a nice lawsuit.
-Your primary contact email is @gmail.com not even your domain.... How lazy are you not to make a company email?

Before you promote your services here you actually should setup your host right.

Hey, The reason why we are using discord as our primary billing platform is because we are still developing our custom billing area. I understand your concern about the email, although I provided my personal email as I am still setting up the email system with Pterodactyl panel and email servers. We will not be using discord as a billing system for much longer.

Thanks

We are ready. The only thing is that we are not offering an automated billing system just yet. As for the email servers, we should be setting them up very soon although we mainly just use discord tickets for support for our clients.

Thanks

Can we rephrase it slightly?
"We are ready, we just don't care about our clients data or that its kept in a secure automated billing system".

Its not competition, you don't see me shitting on legit companies who took the time to actually setup their business right.
Who took the time to go and get a billing system (1 hour of time at most).

I simply call out shitty business practices from summer hosts who don't take even 1 days worth of work to setup a host correctly.
Which the majority of summer hosts end up failing, deleting their clients files or getting hack.

If it hurts your feelings or OP that I am pointing out how lazy and bad of a setup it is. That clients could be at risk using it, well thats your problem for being upset, not mine.

Do you not have anything better to do apart from trashing people's threads? The company is setup correctly and none of our clients data is at risk. We never get anyone's data when they are ordering.[DOUBLEPOST=1564302956][/DOUBLEPOST]We are also working on our billing area and that's why we haven't got it yet.

A few suggestions in the most non-toxic way possible:

  • Ensure everything is ready to go well before you launch. This builds up a reputation of you being reliable and a place people are willing to invest their money into.
  • Get a logo made or at the very least a thread design so that people within the community will have brand recognition for your host.
  • Give more depth into your node statistics, how many servers are on each box, what frequency RAM do your boxes have, what type of storage can servers expect?
  • NEVER use Discord for billing. Primary reason has been already stated - it is not a secure or properly documented way of processing transactions. Get a WHMCS license and a simple theme if you are short on cash initially, and you can use the Pterodactyl module which is free to automatically deploy and setup servers. Apart from anything else, doing this allows people to have a dedicated invoice & billing location, which is crucial as having a record of payments made automatically is always more watertight than what a 15yo can do over Discord

Hope that helps you - if you can implement those, glws.

He's not trashing your thread, he's making legitimate points that any potential customers should be deeply concerned with.

Even entertaining the thought of using Discord as your billing area is disgusting. Discord is anything but secure; it's a free platform, and Discord's own ToS outright says they share your data AND that your data would be included in any potential sales.

You're 15 years old (according to your signature), not of legal age to sign a contract or found a company. Is the company registered? Are you handling your tax liability correctly?

At the end of the day, you need to put a licensed version of WHMCS or Blesta or SOMETHING online. These are platforms that have been rigorously vetted and audited for security, with the added benefit of automated billing, automated setups, built-in customer support, advanced financial reporting, and so much more. You should have waited until you were ready to bill your customers securely and properly. Period.

its secure until they allow remote mysql logins which no doubt is probably enabled as they likely are running everything off one box (minecraft servers, webpanel, mysql, ...), meaning that root can likely be compromised and boom payment data gone

I agree with you, it's not so much that you are shitting on them. It's the fact that these "new" companies open up all the time and they don't take the slightest amount of time to finish everything. These hosts are launching with unfinished pages, no billing panel, no automation, relying completely on discord. I don't know about you but I'm not so much worried about "competition" like good luck. I hope the best for every company although just don't take the shortcut route and do the bare minimum. If you're going to start something make sure it's ready 100% before you release it to the general public.
