I think the House will impeach Trump, but he will be acquitted by the Senate as Bill Clinton was. There's just isn't a 2/3 majority in the Senate to approve the proceedings.

Yup this is what will happen, Pelosi wouldn't do this if she wasn't sure she didn't have the votes. He'll lose support from those who don't follow politics once TRUMP IMPEACHED is in all the headlines, but he'll do everything he can not to leave office because as soon as he does he'll be slapped with state charges by NY.

Unfortunately all the facts show that he's solicited a bribe from Ukraine, which is one of the high crimes and misdemeanors specifically written into the constitution to allow for impeachment.

Please educate yourself on how impeachment actually works.

Impeachment =/= removal from office. He will be impeached but will likely serve out the rest of his term because the Republican-majority senate won't vote to remove him.

Pretty much. I don't think they get that.

The House is currently drafting articles of impeachment. After that, the House will vote (likely by Christmas) on whether to impeach Trump. Since the Democrats hold the House majority and the evidence is indisputable according to multiple legal scholars, and Nancy Pelosi wouldn't have started all of this unless she was 100% sure she has the votes, it is extremely likely that Trump will be impeached within a month.

Hearsay can be a strong form of evidence - emails and phonecalls are both hearsay, for example.

I'd recommend anyone following this case to watch this video from Legal Eagle. It's pretty long but it goes in-depth into the strongest defenses for impeachment.

i don't know but he's not getting impeached (i mean removed impeached; he'll go through the process 100%). he'll be reelected next year too unless there's a very good democratic candidate. then we'll be back to mostly democrat presidents, or conservatives that aren't very conservative

He'll stay in power but that doesn't mean he won't get impeached.

are we talking impeached as in the process beginning? or impeached as in being removed from president? he'll start the process for sure but he's staying president and will most likely be reelected (or, at least, win the popular vote)

An impeachment does not in itself remove a president from office, so a president can be impeached but still remain in office (look at Bill Clinton's case). An impeachment is essentially a statement of the charges against the president voted for by the House, and then it's up to the Senate to decide whether to remove him from office or free him of those charges.

In this case, Democrats hold the House, and Republicans hold the Senate, so Trump should be impeached by the House and then acquitted of those charges by the Senate. So he will most likely stay in power.

However, I imagine once he gets impeached, there will be rioting, and the left and the right will be at each others' throats more than ever, so if a civil war were to happen, it would happen soon. The core of the issue is that Trump is a very toxic, unstable, and emotional person who spreads hatred, and he's already threatened civil war if he were to get impeached, and most of his followers are not motivated by reason and facts, but by emotion. Trump is a danger to our democracy and should be promptly removed from office for everyone's sake.

I'm aware, but most people use "impeach" to mean "remove from office" so I had assumed you were as well. I agree, he's going to be "impeached" in the way that Clinton and Andrew Johnson were, but not removed.

100%

I'd say his followers are far more toxic than he is; I wouldn't consider him toxic at all, really. I would consider him highly unstable and very spontaneous, although also clearly rather intelligent. No one in America appears to be moved by logic or facts anymore; Clinton, Sanders, or Trump, Republican or Democratic, doesn't really matter anymore. Generally, people just vote based on who they think will help them, rather than the country in general.

Trump is just as toxic as his followers. He has a long history of racism and other shit.

I heavily disagree on the "rather intelligent" part. Trump is the farthest thing from an 'intellectual'. He is a complete buffoon.

Sanders is pretty logical.
