Hologram Problem

Hello,

My server is 1.16.5 and I use paperspigot. I tried it also with Spigot but I got the same results.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
When ever I make a hologram and I try to put in a color for example &dt (color pink). It doesn't work. Even color grades won't work.
I use also HologramDisplays. I tried it too with GHolo and Holograms.

I've never seen the issue before.

Make sure you're using the latest version of the plugin or the version made for your server version.
Also, try downloading HolographicExtension @ https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/holographicextension.18461/

Since it has happened with other plugins check the current plugins you have to see if anything is stopping holograms from working.

That's the strange thing. I've only did put Holographicdisplays in the server with essentials. Just to try it out and it still occurred. None of the other plugins have this issue with color. Except for CrazyCrates and CrazyEnvoys but they require to have a Hologram plugin so that's normal.

Minecraft 1.16.5 and Paperspigot. Java 16 I think. It's the most recent and my server's version of Java is set to automatic.[DOUBLEPOST=1626440409][/DOUBLEPOST]

I've just tested it out with Java8, Java11 and Java16. On all of those 3 the problem still occures.

I am unsure of what version of holographicDisplays that you are using is but I suggest using 2.4.6 if you are running on 1.16.5. The latest version may not be fully backwards compatable. I also suggest using Java 14 or 16. Many of these plugins that claim to support 1.17 have simply added an argument to their plugin that lets it run on 1.17 even though it was written for 1.16 or earlier. You can also have plugins that update to 1.17 but drop some features/compatability with 1.16.5 since they change the plugin around to work with java 16. In that event I would try the version for 1.16.5 of Holo and I would run the server with java 14.

Thank you for that suggestion. However, unfortunately the issue still remains intact. I've never come across this issue in my career and I literally cannot fix this. I don't understand it, I tried possibly everything I could think of.

Have you tried "§" as the &? Also, looks like your going to need to remove every plugin except for holograms and see if its working, then add plugins back from there. Its working perfectly fine on my 1.16.5 paper server so it something easy. It has to be.
I noticed that you are using a premade server setup as well. You will need to make a backup of your holograms plugin folder. and then delete it or rename it then restart the server and let it regenerate the config. The setup could be for a version of mc before 1.16.5 and if so, then it could just be loading an old config. Make sure you have the most up to date holo plugin and then maybe try to let it regenerate its config with NO OTHER PLUGINS in the server. Even Essentials

Could be an encoding issue, try adding -Dfile.encoding=UTF8 to your startup parameters.

I tried the symbols as your first suggestion, I removed all plugins and installed only holograms and let it create a new config.yml, I updated the plugin. Still the issue remains... I did this with Java 8, 11 and 16.[DOUBLEPOST=1626533251][/DOUBLEPOST]

It's best not to make allegations like unless you're going to provide evidence as it can come across slanderous. Just because people say something is true, does not make it true and you should only ever go off something you've personally seen evidence for.

Wish I saw this thread sooner! I knew the issue was the client!

Quick note: Lunar Client breaks colour scoreboard titles being rainbow, so on my network instead of a rainbow colour header called ElementalFalls, it is permanently white. Happens with Featherboards <rainbow> tag and Lunar client members.
