The author of the suggestion thread I mentioned this on trashed his thread to get rid of all of the disagree ratings he acquired.

To restate my previous points, it's being used shamelessly to catfish and gain favor from hormonal teenage boys.
Additionally, the unfortunate females of our forum are harassed with vulgar requests.
Someone's gender should have no relevancy within a marketplace context.

We're all human and members of this community. That's all that should be needed to be known to make fair and respectable comments/transactions with one another.

Absolutely not comparable to age which has a high correlation with competency and maturity, and thus has relevance.
Also not quite comparable to location which is not used to curry favor nor have I seen any cases of harassment from it.
Because this is not the case, despite the information not being quite necessary, there's no particularly good reason to remove it.

It's an easy thing to change. We can make the platform a more respectable place one step at a time.

The ability to choose is already available, however, it is still causing issues unnecessarily.
Can you make the age limit higher too? Something like 14-15?

Gender shouldn't violate your own rules on people. Stop sexism!

I don't think this would be useful at all. It's a form of censorship. In addition to that, there's several other ways to express gender (profile picture, name, usertitle, signature, etc). If you force this change across all users, you'll have to censor disclosing your gender as well. If you don't, it'd essentially be pointless.

I fully agree with the issue though. I've thought about this earlier. I wonder how much more sales I'd get if I was a female sales representative for Anvilnode.

Geez this is a problem on here? I've never personally seen it beyond people being called catfish in sb...And like 2 people asking me out on discord after a commission haha.
I'd like to think no one really considers gender seriously on purchases and business deals on here i find that really dumb af since its all online.

Surely if you're doing weird sexual stance points or actually catfishing people on a market you should be suspended for doing that? I don't see what gender has to do with it in all honesty. Personally feel thats really a bizarre thing to ban.

with all of the problems this forums has (staff abuse and 600 unread scam reports), this is what you're spending your time on, sad.[DOUBLEPOST=1543881409][/DOUBLEPOST]

disagree, I'd rather hire a female artist/designer because in my experience, females tend to be more serious and professional when it comes to design unlike boys who seem to oftentimes be more focused on sick logos for their cod montage or 3d text. there may be also specific cases where you'd like to add diversity to your sales team or something like that and you'd rather have a female. also gender says a lot about a person in general and there are a lot of other things it can correlate with.

there are x500000 bigger issues than this such as your terrible, terrible protocol for handling scam reports which you are either blind to or refuse to admit because your head is up your ass

out of all of the massive issues on the forums, I still can't believe that you're more worried about someone's gender being displayed on their profile, this is an extremely trivial issue if it even is one[DOUBLEPOST=1543881745][/DOUBLEPOST]
This is so stupid I can't even think of words right now. Give me a few minutes.
that's an understatement, this isn't even a minecraft forums lvl of retarded anymore, it feels like I'm on club penguin forums ran by technically illiterate 60yr olds.

Thank you for giving a perfect example of sexism and discrimination.

I agree this extremely low priority, however, the only reason I'm able to focus on the high priority things is because I keep my plate clear from all of the small things that build up daily. It takes just as long to make a note to do this later as it does to just create the thread.
I'm more aware than anyone of all of the aspects of my life which I've sacrificed in order to provide more support to MC-Market. I can't expect understanding or appreciation, but if you're truly concerned about me wasting my time on this particular suggestion thread which you consider so low priority, simply ignoring it would have helped there.
I will always be compelled to respond to people who address me with concerns, thus spending time.

You're right about scam reports, and I've been working with our developer on improvements to the backend. If you come up with any long term solutions on your own, please create a suggestion thread. I will read it, because I care.

I feel that it should be easier to hide, just like the age, (ik "unspecified" is an option, but that almost makes it feel like you are embarrassed of gender), but all out banning it just seams like such a ridiculous proposal. Should we apply this to real life? I think one could argue that there are more gender issues in real life, and nobody is banning gender there? Many people on this forum are more than happy with the gender being displayed, so let them display it, and those who dont want it displayed, can hide it. It is a solution for a small group of people, while completely ignoring the majority.
There's gender problems in real life? Name some.

Why is being openly honest about your gender an issue? Why should it even be an issue? Oh right, the age minimum on this site is 13.

I, aswell as many others have more than likely witnessed or heard of young hormonal teenage boys getting catfished. And as many users above me have mentioned, regardless of the Gender of the user the deal will still be the same.

I am proud of the gender that I am and want to show that I am a Male on my profile.

My rights shouldn’t be imposed on because a select few can’t compose themselves in a professional environment.

This is censorship at its finest! Ban those who break the rules, don’t impose more rules on those who don’t break them in the first place![DOUBLEPOST=1543914445][/DOUBLEPOST]And if it really is a fucking issue to someone, they can

hide their gender!!!

Absolutely not comparable to age which has a high correlation with competency and maturity,

Okay sorry, but this really pisses me off: I was doing professional jobs similar to what I am doing now (e.x, managing, graphic design, etc.) and I was like 11. Age doesn't tell maturity - just because a group of younger kinds may be immature, doesn't mean they all are. That's basically what this statement was saying.

I know this is off topic, and I'm asking anyone who read this please not to reply here - I just really felt I needed to post this.
