For some reason, which I have absolutely no clue as to why, when people steal minecraft builds from around the web, and try to sell them here, it only results in 20 warning points when they are caught.

After seeing 68734 trying to do this very thing, and getting caught, I was absolutely baffled by the punishment he received. I was expecting him to be banned, as that is what he deserves, however, all he received was 20 warning points.

Stealing builds and then trying to sell them is just as bad as scamming, so why is the punishment only a fraction of what the punishment is for scamming?

Along with all of this, 68734 should be perm banned.

I've seen this happen quite a few times either after being sold to me or before.

It should be the same punishment as selling something you don't own (Like minecraft accounts but I won't go into that lmao).
I believe the 20 warning points is a nice solid amount, Maybe if he is caught again a perm ban.

I think we all know that the type of people who do this kind of stuff are the same type of people who have no problem with scamming and screwing people over.

If he sells "stolen" builds it means he scammed someone to get them.
It means that he has to be banned just like a scammer.

No he took the builds from a hcf server that just reset, and then tried to sell them as his own..

And you know that he didn't get any permission as he claimed in the thread that he made it that day w/ his friend..

I think the reason it's done is so that same warning can be given to people who got sold stolen builds by a scammer and are trying to resell them. I also agree that the punishment should be more strong, it should go straight to the final stage of suspension AT LEAST.

Um hello happend to me :) i sold Astronaut1 a set up for $10 and he did nothing with it and sold it for $50. I know how that feels so i am in his shoes. But theres no need for a straight ban
That's life, I sell setups all the time for $100+ then I see them either resold for less but sometimes way more it happens nothing to get mad about. :)

I thought this was instant ban...since when punishment is just warning points ???
If person steals build and tries to sell it or scam creator by trying to re-sell how can it be not bannable? So my TOS here on Mc-Market are completely useless and can be ignored?

For all those who think warning points is the way to go let me ask you a question, how do you think how long time will it take until this person will try to get money in other illegal/rule breaking ways? (selling accounts/servers he don't own, chargeback etc.)

Let's give scammers one free attempt at scamming, right?

So what we got at the end...If you chargeback for example from MCM - instant ban... but if you steal from artist/creator then that's fine let's give him one more chance and let's hope this person will change?

So if someone were to steal something you worked days or even weeks on, you'd be fine with them getting a suspension of a few weeks?
people have gotten more warning points by being dicks to each other over lengths of time.

I vote to modify this suggestion to split the offense into several 'warnings'.
1. reselling builds without permission. This should remain at 20 or less warning points, since they did pay for it, they're just using it in a way the owner disapproves of. This can also be due to misunderstanding
2. Selling a build that you got sold by someone else without knowing it is stolen, some warning points (not sure how much, depends on the situation maybe?)
3. selling a build downloaded from PMC, on sale in Schematicstore or by one of MCM's members on the site for the last several months: Instant ban. Why those criteria? Because it is impossible to prove directly if someone has knowledge of a build being stolen when they buy it. A scammer selling stolen builds would claim that too (seen it happen all too often).
However, in the named situations, it would be reasonable to assume that they should have discovered whether the build they are trying to sell is legit.
I think the reason its currently 20 warning points is that first time offenders get the benefit of the doubt on the above 2 situations. So another option would be
1. first offense: 20 warning points unless well-known build
2. second offense: instant ban
