plugins. In this thread, we will go over the basic plugins you need for your factions server. We will then go over some more optional plugins you could use for your server. Be sure to give feedback and tell us what you think are the best plugins to set up a factions server.

THE ESSENTIALS/BASICS
This list will include the basic and essential plugins you need to set up your server. Whether you are going for a theme or not - you will still need these plugins!
- Essentials, EssentialsX < These are your plugins which allow the essential commands to be used. Most people setting up a server should know about these (they are titled "essentials" of course). Please note EssentialsX is an unofficial fork of Essentials.
- Group Manager or Permissionsex < These are your plugins you require to make permissions for each individual user/group. It also allows user prefixes/suffixes. This is a 'must need' plugin for your server - it will especially help if you are going to later use custom plugins. You can choose either Group Manager or Permissionsex.
- World Guard < This plugin may override a few commands from the Essentials Plugin, however, we feel it is an essential plugin, as it allows you to use in game commands to work with your server easier. This includes commands such as commands to set game rules. Further to this, you are also able to add certain commands to make it easier such as "STOP ALL FIRE SPREAD".
- World Edit < If you own a server without world edit - your missing out. This plugin can help fix griefing, build structures quicker, level and entire mountain and cover it with another terrain and also choose an area and have it instantly stored from backups. This plugin comes with many more surprises.
- Vault < No questions asked - this plugin is needed.
- Factions < Now this is what this thread is all about - this is definitely a 'no-brainer'
- ClearLag < If you are gaining 20+ players on your server (not to forget you need a large map for factions), you need this plugin. Whether it could be classed as "essential" or not, we feel it is even needed for the smaller servers. It can simply decrease the RAM/CPU usage with one command.
- Auto Broadcaster < This plugin broadcasts messages across the server - this can help with update notices, shop advertisements and other messages. It is very helpful for larger servers.
- World Border < This plugin allows you to create a world border in each world. It means players cannot cross certain coordinates in that selected world.
- NoCheatPlus < This is a free plugin don't worry. Be sure to read the thread provided on this as it suggests other plugins which help make plugins such as mcMMO compatible. It is pretty self-explanatory. It prevents players from cheating on your server - this plugin is definitely 'essential' in our eyes.
- Votifier < Many servers allow players to vote for their server and in return, they gain rewards such as in-game money/crate keys. Votifier notifies the server that a vote has occurred. It can be configured for it to be announced etc... You can also list all the voting links for your server.
- Blowable Obsidians < Not only does this plugin allow obsidian to be broken - you can also configure other blocks to be stronger/have more health when being blown up. It is a perfect plugin for customisation. As it is a factions server - we considered this to be an 'essential' plugin.
OPTIONAL PLUGINS/PREMIUM PLUGINS
- Factions Tax $10.00 < This allows players in your faction to be taxed with in-game currencies.
- Factions Dynmap $10.00 < This plugin is an extension to factions which allows you to view factions areas and other claims on dynmap < Dynmap is a Google-Maps 'kinda' map for your server.
- Massive Comabat $19.00 < This plugin provides "Advanced Ballancing and Essentials for PvP
- Massive Lag $29.00 < This plugin is worth the price. It gives you advanced diagnostics from lag and it especially detects why you are having problems/lag issues. We highly reccommend it.
- CClearChat < This plugin can mute the chat, clear the chat, clear the chat just for yourself and more. This plugin is useful for admins when wanting to mute the chat to make announcements.
- Server Signs < This plugin allows commands to be used through a sign. For example you can title a sign "RULES" and when a player clicks on the sign the /rules command will be issued by that player (if they have the essentials.rules permission of course...)
- McMMO < This plugin enhances minecraft by giving it a hands on RPG experience. As previously stated, some plugins may interfere with McMMO; as a result of this you may need to download other plugins to make this compatable.
- PlayerVaults < This plugin brings up a Graphic User Interface for the user which allows them to lock away their valuables in a chest format GUI.
- Factions Chat < Allows seperate chat channels for Faction, Ally, Truce etc...
- CrazyCrates < Along with 10 different crate types, this plugin offers crates that can be opened with keys rewarding players with random or selected rewards.
- Scoreboard < This plugin offers a simple and easy set up to create your very own minecraft scoreboard for players on your server.
- SilkSpawners < Allows selected players with permissions to mine spawners and gain them in their inventory. Could be used for donator groups.
- RedeemMcMMO < This plugin allows players to redeem McMMO points via a GUI from credits. You could use this plugin to allow players to gain McMMO credits when voting.
- Auctions < This plugin allows players to auction of items for prices. (May spam chat depending on what is being auctioned)
- HeroBounty < Adds a public hit list to your server! Place bounties on players and earn money by killing them!
DONATION PLUGINS (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
- Minecraft Enjin Plugin < You have to follow a few steps when downloading this plugin. The link provided shows you these steps provided by Enjin on their support forums. This plugin links your minecraft enjin website to your server.
- Buycraft < This plugin allows you to open a GUI for players to purchase ranks from your online Buycraft Store. This is highly recommended, especially for large servers.
We hope this thread gives you some help on setting up your minecraft factions server! Once set up please message so we can see what your server turns out to look like! Do you think we missed any plugins? If so please comment below or email us at [email protected]
