We all as developers know the struggle of finding something to do on MCM to make money etc. Most people come on here to find some money to get a product or just to save up. I as a developer on this website have noticed a frequent thing that has been happening and that I am quite frequently annoyed by and Mc-Market Staff should notice this. SERVER OWNERS ARE ASKING FOR FREE DEVELOPMENT AND / OR SERVER EQUITY

Problems With Server Equity
I wouldn't have a problem with server equity/percentage if it's a server that I know will succeed and am working with a server owner with a high reputation that one that knows what he is doing. But recently people on this website with 0 reputation and no idea what they are doing are counting on developers to make them cores/forks/discord bots/configuring and fill their developers with lies. Most likely the server won't even make enough money for the owner to get anything out of it. I've seen server owners tell me constantly I will get 20% or whatever out of their server profits. And most likely that will be 10$ - 5$ and they expect me to make them everything and anything they want with high quality and proper procedure. I have a big problem with working for little change that I can make somewhere else this is something that is needing to be fixed so that server development can become a real thing again

How do I suggest we solve this?
Simply by letting the server owners on this website notice that us as developers cannot be ran over and work for petty change just because it's a Minecraft development even though we develop for a platform we still do our best and work hard to make good quality plugins for the community. Most server owners take developers for granted and it's very hard to find a developer who actually knows Java/Spigot API and they will find the cheapest option and let there server flop. I believe MCM as a organization should be able to deal with this by giving us a Sub Forum for Equity/Free Work because I am tired of this happening. If any developers want to comment on what I have to say please feel free to post your discord and we can talk about it. And if any server owners that do equity/free jobs and also is not going to say "I'll be back when I get the money" and never return please feel free to contact

Just don't deal with the ones who want you to do it for free. It doesn't take too long to skim over threads.
If someone pms you asking about a plugin, make sure the first question you ask is if they're willing to pay for it.
its ALOT of people who do this. Would just be easier to make a different sub forum

Yeah probably, but there's a lot of easier things that should be implemented that are similar to this, but MCM never does it. He just sounded like he's had to deal with a lot of people who don't end up paying him, so I was giving advice more specific to him.

(btw Jaze you should put this thread in the suggestions section if you want it to be a suggestion)

Running a Minecraft server isn't a business you can make money on. There is a simple reason for this: Minecraft is mostly a game for kids. And kids don't have much money. Server owners would need a big player base to generate enough cash flow to pay developers an appropriate salary. But in reality such servers are very rare. There are a lot of owners who are still kids himself. They have not enough seed capital to pay the development costs. Therefore, they ask the developers if they can take on the business risks. It is okay to ask, but no one of us need to accept this. So if you want to be a Minecraft plugin developer do it just for fun to make some kids happy or look for a serious owner with solid financial background. If you want to make money and you read a post like "Requesting developer but at the moment I can't pay ..." - just skip ... and wait.
