I really feel this quote alone deciphers you professionalism and quality. A site is the first impression, Everyone should know this. It is the first thing you see, for example, If you were to hire someone for a job as say a person who deals with people. Would you hire someone with a slightly better skill set who looks like they haven't showered in 3 Months, or someone with a slightly lesser skill set but looks like Leonardo Di DiCaprio. I'm sorry to say friend but currently you fall under the Shower guy, without a proven skill set.

Personally I would use the money that your would spend on paying the staff that you would hire on a graphics designer to make the website look clean, and if your website spikes in customers then search for staff.
