yeah, too many fakes, doesn't detect well, you need the values at 0.0001 ready for it to be good, and for those with a bad connection, too annoying to configure but detects well

A good “universal” anti-cheat plugin. Interesting checks on elytra and ML aura-checks. However, as with all anti-cheats, without proper configuration, you may not get what you want. I have been following this plugin for several years, and it is really evolving.

Great anticheat, there are no false flags for PVP checks, however the default config it comes with causes some server performance issues, if you are a first time buyer, make sure to change the speed and gravity simulation in advanced.yml

Since we started testing and looking around for a good Anticheat for our, back then, new server in 2020, Spartan was always one of the most well-regarded and popular plugins out there. After purchasing it in 2021 and installing it on our server, we were instantly in love. The plugin barely had any false positives and with a bit of configuration in the old config structure we were able to let it auto-kick with 95% accuracy for most checks.

Over the years, constant updates and bug-fixes made the plugin ever better at detecting cheats, finding and eliminating false positives and automatically deciding when to punish players. Evan, the developer, was always helpful and assisted us with any issues that arose either from our or his side.

Finally, after almost 4 years of use and constant tests with other plugins we have determined that Spartan was, and still is, the best Minecraft Anticheat for our server. We wish the developer all the best for his now upcoming 10th year of making this amazing plugin. Keep up the good work!

Very fast support. I have purchased the plugin on [Censored] where I did not received the download for some reason but support here sent me the new download within 20 minutes. Other developers would just ignore it or say its not their issue or something but this deloper is amazing!

I used to really hate Spartan when it was on SpigotMC, but now its the best Anti Cheat ever! Zero issues, Zero false positives. If you came from SpigotMC and remember how bad it was, give it another chance because all the issues are fixed.

Still the best anticheat there is in my opinion. I have zero problems with this ever. I thought it was gone and was very happy to see its going strong over here! Great Job!

Truly Improved Experience – Developer Listens & Responds
I originally left a negative review because of some recent changes that frustrated me — especially how Spartan Syn became a separate paid feature and the way some checks were working. I honestly thought I was done with it.

But I’ve never had a developer reach out the way Vagdedes did. He didn’t just brush it off — he actually listened, took the time to talk it out, and genuinely wanted to fix things. After our convo, Syn was made free for everyone, and a lot of my concerns were addressed in the next update (4.0.5.3). That really changed how I see this plugin.

I’ve only ever had this level of support from a couple devs before (Only and Hadful come to mind), and it’s rare. You don’t see that kind of care often in this community.

That said, I really hope Spartan keeps moving in this direction — more accurate checks, fewer false flags, and better performance would make this plugin unbeatable. You’re clearly putting in effort and listening, so please keep pushing for that balance between precision and efficiency.

Good job on the recent changes — they didn’t go unnoticed. I’m looking forward to seeing Spartan become even better.

I want to heartily thank the developer for listening to my situation and taking the time to find a fair solution. Knowing that they considered my country of origin and the economic difficulties involved in following a subscription model really made me feel seen and valued as a user.

It's not every day that you come across developers who are willing to have this kind of empathy and humanity. I am glad to see that behind this plugin there are people willing to dialogue, to understand other realities and to do their best to support those of us who need it.

Super Anticheat. It works, although it sometimes, but the developer takes care of it

Bothers legit players too much

Is it good at stopping hacks? Yes. Is it good at differentiating hackers and legit players? Absolutely not. If you test it with hacks you'll notice spartan kicks them really fast, but the real problems start when you try to play without hacks, what's the point of an anticheat when it constantly bullies your legit players and makes them leave? And with spartan being some machine learning gimmick there's no support for a more traditional setback system which would be just as good at stopping hacks while being less bothersome on legit players when false flags happen.

There also seems to be some weird random ping issues when spartan is installed and they disappear immediately when spartan is removed


Now for the second thing that pissed me off before even getting to test spartan properly. If you buy java & bedrock editions of spartan you need to pay 10€ extra to actually be able to use both of them. The owner hell-bent on that his warning about that is enough, I don't think so. When you are buying the bundle is says: [Needs additional purchase to enable both in 1 jar.]. How does that convey that java & bedrock edition checks will not function together at all unless you pay 10€ more for a another product? And you could always buy java & bedrock edition separately and this limitation is never mentioned anywhere, so you'd have to pay 50€ in total to get all the functionality of this plugin.

Please, for the love of god don't waste your money on Spartan, there are free and paid options that work much better

Joining my test server it says "Internal server error" I have tried and removed spartan from the server where it works can join, and after I put the plugins back in, it fails, I think therefore the plugins do not work

I mean I use java plugins and my server is 1.8.8

Best Anti-Cheat I've used handles any cheat well flags a lot but honestly better more than less but still not many false positives (any anti-cheat will give you a false positive from time to time... it happens) but HIGHLY configurable so you can dial those settings to to avoid false positives... what hooked me was the clean GUI easy to understand so don't need command or .YAML file knowledge. Highly Recommend worth every Cent and Pence

Up to date review in 2024 (Last review is almost a year old, maybe the bad ones gets deleted?)

Spartan is no longer as good as it used to be. It has false positives all over the place, and the performance is just bad. With 30-40 players on the server TPS goes down to 11. Developer blames issue on LuckPerms when the plugin checking permissions for hundreads of time each second, these actions should be cached for fast access and the plugin is advertised as "Excellent async-based performance" and it uses 20% of server thread even when event cancelling is off so you can process most stuff in async without the need to wait the result of a check to cancel an event or packet. Player data deletion not working, it keeps coming back for offline players too. There is not support for attribute modifiers, if a player has items that increase generic movement speed the plugin detects speed hacking. For no-fall, even a one block jump can trigger the alert.

Hope these issues will be fixed in the future, but as now I cannot recommend this plugin at the current state unless you have less than 10 players on the server.
