Yes I am aware of the BungeeCord requirement for MySQL but ChatControl Pro does not support network players really, there is no tab completion etc., its Bungee is very basic and BungeeCord plugin messaging is limited hence we opted in to use MySQL.

I agree, the plugin can seem bloated when you don't configure it to your needs. The standard setup comes with 50-100 examples which you can delete. These are just examples from big networks on how people used the plugin.
1. Channels can be made very simple, you don't have to use any other file, everything can be done in the main settings.yml using a few lines of code, see: https://i.imgur.com/5rsHtC1.png
The channel system using external files is again an advanced feature used by many customers because it supports gradients, hover/click events, javascript etc. No need to use it.
2. The regular expression filters can - and should - be customized - to prevent bypasses which you see fit. We have an entire article about how to add more blocks here: https://github.com/kangarko/chatcontrol-red/wiki/Rules
3. Sorry to see the lag, please open a ticket at GitHub including your /chc debug log and I'll assist you. Looks like another plugin is sending component-based messages and we caught them in the packet pipeline. Fastest fix is to disable protocollib integration at our side entirely, proper fix is to detect what these messages are with the data you provide to customer service.
